For February we have two winners for Official of the Month.  Both Gentleman receive this award for outstanding services to the Mount Gambier LC & MCC.  David and Phil both receive a certificate of achievement from MSA along with a bottle of Jim Barry Wines as a thankyou for their work.  Following is a profile for both David & Phil.

What was your first Machine:  Triumph Tiger Cub 200cc  

What made you decide to participate in this sport as a Rider/Coach/Official: My  family were keen motorcylists

Racing/Coaching/Officiating Achievements: Moderate success at  Moto-Cross in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. As a level 4 offical at the early G.P’s at Phillip Island doing Machine Examining.

 

Discipline:   Moto- Cross and Road Racing  

                                     

Do you travel to events:  Yes

Who do you travel with:  Other motor- cycle enthusiasts

Goals for the future:  Continue to make Mac Park a “Happy” road race track

Role Models inside the sport:  Laurie Fox O.A.M.

Role Models outside of the sport:  My father

Best part about Racing/Officiating/Coaching:  The comradery of motorcycle racers

Worst Part about Racing/Officiating/Coaching:  Mis- Information spread by people with personal grievences

Racing/Officiating/Highlight:  Never having to lodge a protest to M.S.A. because it couldn’t be resolved in over 30 years of being a Key OfficalSponsors: My wife

Hobbies:  Motorcycling, Gym, Yoga, Walking & Cycling.

Club: Mount Gambier Motor Cycle & Light Car Club Inc.

Age when started Riding:   11 

What was your first Machine:   1964 Yamaha 80cc 

 

What made you decide to participate in this sport as a Rider/Coach/Official:  My love of Motorcycles and racing.

 

Discipline:  Road Race   (formally Motocross)

                                     

Do you travel to events:  Moto GP & Superbikes at Phillip Island as a spectator whenever possible.

Who do you travel with:  Whoever is going but usually other members of our club.

Goals for the future: 10 years as a Race Secretary then move on to higher positions that require less hours.

Role Models inside the sport: Laurie Fox

Best part about Racing/Officiating/Coaching:  Seeing the smiles on the rider's faces after a great weekend of racing.

Worst Part about Racing/Officiating/Coaching:  Having to deal with people that think they are the only ones at the meeting.
