TRIALS SA LAUNCH 2021 SEASON – AND IT LOOKS TO BE AN EXCITING SEASON AHEAD!

February 11, 2021 Filed Under: News, SA Women in Motorcycling, State Championship, Trials

Season 2021 for the discipline of Trial is looking at being another quality year for the discipline that doesn’t rely on speed! 9 high quality events, backed up with some great coaching and practise days, as well as camp overs in the most family friendly of all disciplines – check out the attached poster for all of the events, including a few over the border!

The season will be highlighted by the 5 round TROY Series SA 2021 – now into its 12th year as a Series, with this years rounds being as per the poster below. TROY Series SA is a Series that (mainly) combines classes onto lines ridden with the lowest score on the day getting the TROY points (except the women’s PINK Class which is scored on lines first), with this years Series travelling from Victor Harbor to Robertstown, through the Barossa Valley, Tungkillo and the Southern Flinders Ranges, with all rounds having Saturday night camping available, with a number also featuring Saturday coaching and practise days – check out the calendar below!

The Trials SA calendar also has a number of feature events through the year – catering for sidecars, the old bikes and the girls and women, with the Peter Sparkes Trophy & Diener/Holmes Sidecar Trophy (sidecars), The Classic Trial (old bikes) and the Rockhopping SA 2021 SA Women’s Cup (the first event in SA to have the girls and women as the headliners – see the poster below!)

The season will end with the 2021 South Australian Trial Championships, this time being run by Chris Schultz and his crew at the Gawler MCC at their iconic Tungkillo property. 2 days of action, with a full range of classes – including 4 junior classes, 2 for the boys and 2 for the girls, onsite camping and heaps more!

Keep an eye out on the Trials South Oz Facebook page for all that is happening during the season!

**EXCITING NEWS**

THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE 2021 SA MOTOCROSS, SPORT and RECREATION COMMITTEE

It’s taken 5 weeks, numerous phone calls, meetings and discussions to bring this super experienced, professional and driven team together to actively to improve our current motocross brand, increase participation and bridge the divide between recreational riding and high level competition.

As the incoming Sports Manger I’m absolutely pumped to see what we can achieve here in SA over the next few years.

As I have touched on with these people and others about the vision and future of the sport, I didn’t take the responsibility of this position lightly and hence why this committee brings diverse knowledge professionalism and really see us well positioned to be approachable, transparent, and progressive in our thinking.

This is no boys club or secret ballot, this is our vehicle to attract and retain riders and families to motocross.

It’s with great excitement and optimism that I thank and welcome the following people to support me in Season 2021 and beyond:

CLINT GOW-SMITH

SA Motocross Sports Manager

BRETT METCALFE

SA Motocross Ambassador

GAVIN HUTTON

Marketing and Governance, Rider Participation and Development

DOUG SPANOS

Officials, Grading, Race Formats, Public Relations, Sponsorship

KELLI & GRANT HOFFRICHTER

AARYN MINERDS

Media & Marketing, Rider Participation and Development

JOHN PLATT

JASMINE MACPHERSON

SA Motocross Women’s Ambassador, Public Relations

The SA Motocross presentation dinner and special events are being organised by a separate committed committee that will coordinate these events in the background and keep everyone in the loop.

These people are our face, eyes and ears of the sport going forward. We are all very approachable, have a united vision and I encourage you all to tap into these resources and collectively really enjoy this exciting journey ahead.

Regards

Clint Gowsmith

SPORTS MANAGERS APPOINTED FOR 2021 – COMPLETE WITH 2 BRAND NEW FACES!

January 4, 2021 Filed Under: All disciplines, News, SA Women in Motorcycling

SPORTS MANAGERS APPOINTED FOR 2021 – COMPLETE WITH 2 BRAND NEW FACES!

2021 will see the disciplines of Road Race and Motocross be led by a couple of brand new faces, with Kym Bolto and Clint Gow-Smith appointed to the positions by the Motorcycling SA Board. They replace Alessandro Malatesta (RR), who held the position for a number of years, and Robyn Kitchen (MX), who held the position in 2020.

Both, Kym and Clint, briefly outlined their plans for their chosen discipline and it looks like there are great times ahead for both disciplines, with both looking to get their disciplines up and running early into 2021!

So, in an exciting end to 2020, and start to 2021, December saw the final Sports Manager’s meeting for 2020 take place, with all discipline Sports Managers appointments confirmed for 2021, with the Motorcycling SA President, Brenton Matters, and joined by Board member, Mike Hampton, confirming the Sports Manager appointments and to give an overview of how 2021 will proceed.

Brenton firstly welcomed everyone, especially Kym and Clint as the new appointees and confirmed the 2021 appointments for 2021, meaning the Motorcycling SA Sports Managers for 2021 will be;

Dirt Track             Ty Lynch

Enduro                 Wes Haydon

Motocross          Clint Gow-Smith

Reliability Trial   John Songailo

Road Race           Kym Bolto

Speedway           Adam Possingham

Trial                        Andrew Warnest

The following positions remain vacant;

Classic Motocross

Sidecar-cross & Quads

Brenton then gave a report on what the MSA Board expect from the Sports Managers for 2021, with members of the MSA Board will also sit in on discipline meetings, but as an observer only, to see how each SMG works, and also to get more of an idea of what is needed for that discipline.

In closing, Brenton and Mike made the following comments;

Brenton; Again, welcome to Kym & Clint, thank you for nominating, and good luck with the positions, and know that you have the support of the MSA Board and MSA Office, with Andrew Warnest as your point of call in the office as the SM liaison.

Mike; I’d just like to reiterate what Brenton just said, but also that you all have important roles in the sport, and in taking the sport forward, and especially motocross which really needs to become what it can be, and I hope it all runs smoothly for you all.
