Preview – Gawler Motorcycle Centre 2024 SART Championship Round 2 Keyneton Gears Up For The Mike Connors Trial

May 23, 2024 Filed Under: News, Reliability, State Championship

As the SA Reliability Trials Championship continues its thrilling 2024 season, the Mike Connors Trial is set to return to Keyneton on Saturday, May 25th. Building on the excitement from the highly successful Phillip Haydon Trial, which saw registrations close early due to hitting maximum capacity, the Mike Connors Trial is looking to be a huge day for riders and spectators.

Returning for 2024, Riders will start at Keyneton Oval before they head over the hills towards the Barossa. With the lack of rain coming into the event, competitors will be kept on their toes through dust and loam as they face off the 2-lap format, riding for about 6 – 8 hours.

Entry List:

Feeling a bit of déjà vu? Entries hit capacity and closed early as 208 competitors gear up to take on the course for 2024. Following an exceptional round 1, the Reliability Trials have truly bounced back from the lull caused by COVID-19.

This weekend, all eyes will be on Nick Throup, the current 2024 Expert Solo Champion and winner of round 1. Nick aims to solidify his lead in the points standings, leveraging the absence of his closest competitor and brother, Tristan Throup, who secured the runner-up position in the first round but won’t be competing this weekend. Current third-place Expert Open rider Samuel Nenasheff is set to join the stacked field and challenge Nicholas. Coming off last weekend’s AORC wins, Rowan Pumpa will also be looking to close the Championship lead gap.

The competition is set to heat up in the Sidecar field as the top three teams—Bradley Hunter/Bradley Manuel, Shane Schiller/Steven Doecke, and Shane Beckmann/Adam Brook—are all back for a round two rematch. After an unfortunate premature exit in round one, the 2023 Sidecar Champion team of Max Hutchesson and Sam Hutchesson will be eager to get their 2024 Championship back on track.

Adding to all the excitement, round 1 class heavy hitters set to take on this weekend include Jake Henderson in ‘Clubman Open 2-Stroke,’ Noah Riebke in ‘Clubman Up to 405cc 4-Stroke,’ and Tyson Schumacher in ‘406cc & Over Four Stroke.’ Coming off her round 1 Ladies All Powers win, Chloe Barton is fired up to make it 2 for 2, but with exceptionally fast ladies joining her, this weekend could be anyone’s to take.

PROVISIONAL RESULTS – 2024 SA RELIABILITY TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 1 COMES DOWN TO THE LINE AT TARLEE

May 6, 2024 Filed Under: News, Reliability, State Championship

Last Saturday, May 4th, the town of Tarlee came alive with the buzz of reliability trials once again for 2024 as Championship Round 1, The Phillip Haydon Trial, proudly presented by the Gawler MCC, kicked off. Fans settled in for a full day of competition as a great turnout of past and new emerging reliability trial talent took on the dry, dusty conditions of the day and night 6-hour format, with a course fully designed to keep racers on their toes.

Showing they haven’t slowed down in their time away from reliability trials competitions, brothers Nicholas and Tristan Throup took the early lead at the end of lap 1, with Nicholas gaining the slight 81-second edge over the tight competition of Tristan, Samuel Nenasheff, 2023 outright Champion Rowan Pumpa, and runner-up Clinton Voigt. Even with Tristan narrowing down an 11-second gap after lap 2, the hard work had already been done to crown Nicholas as the open solo and outright round 1 Championship winner. Rounding out third place, Samuel Nenasheff held off Rowan Pumpa in 4th by just a gap of 5 seconds.

It was a tough start to the Sidecars Round 1 Championship for defending champions Max Hutchesson & Sam Hutchesson when they blew a head gasket on the opening lap, putting a premature end to their Round 1 endeavours. This left the powerhouse duo of Bradley Hunter/Bradley Manuel to put in the work and get a leg up to take the Sidecar win ahead of Shane Schiller & Steven Doecke. The competition between second and third places would be fierce and come down to the final lap of the day to decide. With a gap of just 26 seconds at the halfway point after lap 1, Shane Schiller & Steven Doecke put in the hard yards to establish a 1:23 buffer between them.

Provisional open solo and sidecar results are below, with details and results by class available on the SART website HERE.

(Note competitors have until midnight on Sunday, May 12th to challenge or query any results).

Round 2 of the SA Reliability Trials Championship comes to the Barossa Valley on the 25th of May as Keyneton MCC proudly presents the Mike Connors Trial. As Championship leaders have made a firm stand, the competition is only going to heat up.

Event Preview – Gawler Motorcycle Centre SA Reliability Trials Championship Dust’s Off The Bikes For Round 1 At Tarlee

May 1, 2024 Filed Under: News, Reliability

This coming Saturday the 4th of May sees the return of favourites merge with new beginnings as Gawler MCC is set to mark the opening round of the Gawler Motorcycle Centre 2024 SA Reliability Trials Championship with the Philip Haydon Trial in Tarlee.

2023 kept fans young and old guessing who could claim the overall Championship and with the lineup now in, 2024 is going to be no different. With over 150 riders lined up for the weekend, including many previous winners, you’re not going to want to be anywhere else. Round 1 will put the riders through their paces with a Day/Night format of 2 laps at approximately 6 hours of run time.

Reliability Trials fans will be kept well-fed and hydrated thanks to the Gawler Apex Club with full catering located at Main Control on Tarlee Oval so make sure you get your fill of hot food and cold drinks. Just some of the goodies on the menu for the weekend will be Egg and Bacon Rolls, Burgers and Steak sandwiches, soft drinks, water, tea and coffee. Finally, for all the adults feeling like a cold beer or wine whilst taking all the round 1 Reliability Trials action, they will be taken good care of with a fully stocked bar available.

Entry List:

Returning for another year sees the reigning Championship talent of Rowan Pumpa lining back up for another year with 2023’s runner-up Clinton Voigt joining with sights set on getting an early leg up on the Champ. With a heated expert field, it could be anyone’s day in the end with the rivals including the returning Throup brothers, Nicholas & Tristan locked in.

Of course, it wouldn’t be reliability trials without a cracking field of sidecars lining up to show off what they have in the tank. Adding their names to the list of 2024 Championship hopefuls see the first class sidecar expertise of Shane ‘Crash’ Schiller  & Steven “Stiff’ Doecke. The dynamic duo will be ones to watch as they get that crucial bike time in before defending their 2023 title at the upcoming HARDI 24 Hour Trial Centenary. Joining the round 1 sidecar antics this weekend will also be the 2023 defending Champions Max Hutchesson  & Sam Hutchesson runner-up Shaun Buckley as he teams up with Samuel Weichert. Of course, just 2 of the girls bringing some great competition to the field, regular returners and 24-hour trial finishers Kristy Schultz & Ayla Plowman have dusted off the sidecar for 2024.

SART ENTRIES OPEN – Opening of the Gawler Motorcycle Centre 2024 SA Reliability Trial Championships

March 22, 2024 Filed Under: News, Reliability

The excitement is building as the stage is set for the launch of the Gawler Motorcycle Centre 2024 SA Reliability Trial Championships.

It’s an exciting new era for the Championship in 2024 with the announcement late in 2023 that the Gawler Motorcycle Centre had signed on to be the naming rights sponsor for 2024. Please welcome John & Sue Davies and if you get the chance, please thank them for supporting one of SA’s major Championship series.

I would like to express my thanks to the Gawler Motorcycle Centre for their support in the 2024 Championship. This has been key to upgrading our backup timing tablets, which work in connection with the race result timing system. I am looking forward to a fantastic year ahead and excited to see the talent come out for 2024,” said Christopher Paunola, the Sports Manager for the Gawler Motorcycle Centre 2024 SA Reliability Trial Championships.

After a nail-biting 2023 season where champions emerged victorious, only as the dust settled after the final rounds, anticipation for the 2024 Championships is palpable. With a calendar brimming with thrilling events and fierce competition, enthusiasts are in for a treat.

Kicking off the Championships on May 4th is The Phillip Haydon Trial, set to ignite the Tarlee District once again. Hosted by the Gawler Motorcycle Club, this event will feature the beloved day/night format, providing riders with a comprehensive experience of the picturesque Tarlee District.

The excitement doesn’t stop there, as the fan-favourite 64th running of the Keyneton MCC’s ‘Annual Road trial, now named the Mike Connors Trial, returns to the Keyneton District on May 25th.

And marking its annual pilgrimage, the Lew Job 2 Day Trial (50th – big deal) will take place over the June Long Weekend at ‘Robbie,’ promising enthusiasts, as always, the renowned Mutton and Gravy Rolls at the Robertstown Oval again in 2024.

After the July break for the 100th Anniversary Hardi 24 Hour Trial, the calendar restarts with the Gil Harris Trial at Mallala hosted by the Levis MCC, followed by the SAPMAC presented River Murray Trial, (where) and the Beryl Pearse Trial lighting up the Clare District to finish the Championship.

As the stage is set and the entries are about to go live, the burning question remains: Will the returning champions continue their reign, or will emerging talents ascend to the throne in 2024?

With the intensity of the competition and the unpredictable nature of Reliability Trials, fans will have to wait with bated breath to witness all the unfolding events of 2024.

EVENT PREVIEW – THE BERYL PEARCE RELIABILITY TRIAL WAVES THE CHEQUERED FLAG FOR THE 2023 CHAMPIONSHIPS

September 22, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability

After a fantastic 2023 Reliability Trial Championship that felt like it all just started yesterday, the Clare MCC will present The Beryl Pearce Reliability Trial and officially wave the checkered flag on the 2023 SA Reliability Trials Championships this coming Saturday the 23rd of September.

After unfortunately not being able to go ahead in 2022 due to weather, all lights are green for this weekend and we couldn’t think of a better way to finish such an action-packed year. To decide the final positions on the Championship points table, the Beryl Pearce Reliability Trial will be a full daytime format of 2 laps and around 6 hours of bike time to bring it all home. Don’t miss out and have to wait till 2024…BE THERE!!

Entry List:

A stacked field of 106 riders are all set to take to the circuit for the last time this year and we couldn’t be more excited. Returning with a 30-point lead for Outright Solo and the pressure off his shoulders, Rowan Pumpa will start his final championship round at 10:31 am from Main Control. With second place still up for contention, Clinton Voigt will be doing everything he can to keep the 17-point lead, ahead of the current Championship third place, Adam Wright.

After their round 5 win, the dynamic duo Max Hutchesson and Sam Hutchesson sit 1 point behind Sidecar Outright Championship leaders Shaun Buckley and Brett Harding. Only time will tell, who has all the right moves at Clare to take the top spot for the Championship outright Sidecar and who will have to settle for second place. Third-place team Ross Watson / Cooper Winter will still be feeling the heat coming into the weekend with current Championship fifth-place overall sidecar team Zak Smith / Brendon Noble sitting just 7 points behind. With current Sidecar outright fourth place team Daniel Plowman and Bradley Brook not taking to the course this weekend, this could be the perfect chance for Zak and Brendan to put the pressure on them to take over the podium third place for 2023 – Only time will tell!!

Check out the full competitor list & start times – HERE.

Where:

This year’s Main Control has a fresh backdrop in the Clare Showgrounds Club Rooms and not in the pavilion as in previous years. Most importantly spectators, riders, family and friends can all come together for hot food and cold drinks behind the clubhouse.

With perfect weather conditions on the horizon for the upcoming final Reliability Trial of 2023, there’s no better excuse to make the trip out to the Mid-North and take in everything Clare has to offer whilst you see all the final points dashes of the 2023 SA Reliability Trial Championships.

Competition Information:

Welcoming riders and spectators will be a picturesque challenging course spanning across the region and with the dry conditions coming up to the event, you can bet there will be plenty of dry, dusty unpredictable corners to catch out unsuspecting riders and add some spice to the day. Maps to all the perfect spectator spots will be available at Main Control, so head there first get all stocked up on food and work out where you’re going to cheer on your favourite rider for the last time in 2023.

With riders briefing scheduled for 9:30 am and the first rider leaving main control at 10:01 am, better save the sleep-in for Sunday and get trackside early for a full day of Reliability Trial competition.

PROVISIONAL RESULTS – 2023 SART CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 5: THE RIVER MURRAY RELIABILITY TRIAL

September 5, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability

Round 5 of the SA Reliability Trials Championships – The River Murray Trial kicked off last Saturday the 2nd of September through Palmer district. The SAPMAC Motorcycle Club put in the hard yards and hosted an exceptional event, bringing the finish of the SA Reliability 2023 Championship season even closer.

Continuing his 2023 SA Reliability Trials Championship dominance, Rowan Pumpa put down a solid day on the bike to take the provisional overall Open Solo win ahead of Clinton Voight by 1 minute and 8 seconds. The fight for second and third place was exceptionally closer with Jesse Lange coming out of the gates strong on the first lap finishing 5 seconds ahead of Clinton going into lap 2. Clinton found the answer and came back to regain second place after lap 2 by a mere 2 seconds ahead of Jesse Lange, who settled for third.

With the course whittling down 20-weekend starters to 15 sidecar teams making the finish, it was the dynamic brother duo of Max Hutchesson and Sam Hutchesson who had all the right moves to take the provisional top spot in Open Sidecar and finish with a cracking time to finish 32nd overall for the round. Current points leaders Shaun Buckley and Brett Harding took second place and Bradley Manuel / Bradley Brook in third. This now tightens the Open Sidecar points table right up. If nothing changes in the top provisional results for this round, Shaun Buckley and Brett Harding will go into the final round 6 with a single-point lead ahead of Max Hutchesson and Sam Hutchesson, who have now been moved into second.

Provisional open solo and sidecar results are below, with details and results by class available on the SART website HERE.

(Note Competitors have until midnight on Saturday, September 9th to challenge or query any results).

The sixth and final round of the 2023 SA Reliability Trials Championships all comes together at Clare for the Beryl Pearse Trial on Saturday the 23rd of September. This daytime, 2-lap format is the last chance for riders to lock away valuable points and after a season of unexpected twists, upset losses and fairy-tale finishers, one thing is for certain… the Clare MCC is guaranteed to bring the 2023 Reliability Trial Championship home with a BANG!!
