A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT REGARDING COVID-19

March 19, 2020 Filed Under: All disciplines, News

To our Motorcycling South Australia riders, committees, clubs, coaches and volunteers,

As the situation around COVID-19 (commonly known as Coronavirus) continues to develop, we are committed to providing up-to-date information to you all, as it becomes available to us.

On March 16, Motorcycling Australia issued a statement and advice to the State Controlling Bodies on the running of events with over 500 people and issuing of MA Permits for events. This was based on the advice and direction of the Federal and State Governments.

Motorcycling South Australia support the State and Federal Governments in their attempt to contain the spread of this virus as much as possible. We encourage you to keep up to date, and do your part in reducing your chance of contracting the virus.

For more information visit; https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus

With all this in mind, the following clubs and/or promoters have decided to postpone or cancel the following events due to many reason, most outside of their control:

Postponed;

March 28              Sidewinders                   Silver Helmet Meeting

March 29              Atujara                           Collingrove Hillclimb

March 29              MRA                               Club round

April 5                    MSA                               Women’s Only Come & Try

April 11                  Sidewinders                   Baker / Bitmead Meeting

April 11 & 12         Port Pirie                       King of the Gulf motocross

April 25                 Sidewinders                   ANZAC / President’s Cup Meeting

Under Review;

April 4                            SRA                                 SA B Grade Sidecar Championship, Gillman

April 4                           MSA                                Elite Rider Program Day 1

May 2                             Whyalla                          Dash for Cash

Cancelled;

March 28              Keith                    Diesel & Dirt Derby & Come & Try

Information will be made available from the Event Organisers, to all riders who have already entered on their options for either having their entry roll over or refunded.

At this stage all other events are going ahead as planned, and further to this Motorcycling South Australia support and encourage any clubs wishing to continue to operate to do so, within the current strict hygiene and social distancing guidelines.

However, if a Club wishes to postpone any activity we actively support this decision, as you know your community better than any of us.

To keep up to date on the status of events we encourage you to continue to visit our website: https://www.motorcyclingsa.org.au/riders/calendar/

The Motorcycling South Australia office will remain open, but will be closed for counter enquiries.

We feel this will reduce any disturbance in the service we can provide to our Riders and Clubs.

Due to ALL indoor gatherings/meetings now having to be less than 100 people and venues needing to be cleaned and sanitized effectively (as per the Prime Minister on March 18) the MSA Hall will now be closed for meetings.

MSA is not able to provide adequate cleaning and sanitation processes for the hall to protect our members and staff.

We wish to assure you all that the decisions we make, are with the best intentions and with the most up to date information available to us at this time.

We will continue to communicate as information and the situation progresses.

Warm regards,

Brenton Matters

President
Motorcycling South Australia

ACUSA PARK TAKING SHAPE FOR THE 2020 RIDE DAYS

March 13, 2020 Filed Under: All disciplines, News

ACUSA Park WORKING BEE UPDATE

Update from the ACUSA Park committee and their band of volunteers.

Another huge effort was made again by a great bunch of volunteers that attended over the March Long Weekend. Thank you to everyone for your time and there were some massive achievements made.

The old fence has been removed from the dirt track and the post holes have been dug ready to replace it. Loose tyres off the motocross tracks are being removed and placed on to the outer edge of the dirt track ready to be made into a safety tyre wall. Two new junior training tracks have been constructed on the western end of track 2 (the old pits) and post holes have also been dug ready for a new fence.

A new creek crossing has been constructed on track 2 making it wider and safer while also opening up the creek flow. Thanks to some great support from companies and individuals that donated machinery over the weekend track 2 has some new dirt on it ready to be spread out, track 1 has had a creek crossing widened and the trail loop received some much needed attention and re-instating.

A new announcing tower & scoring facility has been located at the dirt track with fencing re designed to allow longer run off areas. A loading ramp has been constructed and was successfully used throughout the weekend. A clean up of the property has also taken place and will continue on.

The men’s toilet block has been stripped bare inside and is now ready for a new kit out. This this scheduled for the Easter weekend if you would like to help. New signage for the entire property has been made and ready to be placed around the property.

The new creek crossing (above & below) – under expert supervision and getting down and dirty in the trenches!

So there is a lot happening and still more to do. The ACUSA Park Committee and Motorcycling SA are determined to get the park upgraded and will continue to improve it as much as possible going forward. This can only happen if the park is being used for Ride Days and also hired out, which creates revenue and that means more can be spent on the property for improvements. The first open to the public Ride Day for 2020 is scheduled for Sunday April 26th.

It’s important that we not only advertise the Ride Days but also get the word out that even though there has been some fire damage to the property it will be business as usual at the Park. Please feel free to pass this information on in preparation for the coming season.

New fence going up around the dirt track (above) and the new junior training track taking shape (below)

Thanks again if you were one of the many that donated your time to the working bees, it’s been great to have your support again.

The next scheduled days are;

Sat. March 21st from 8.00am until noon. If you would like to continue on we will also be there throughout the weekend and we welcome anyone that wants to stay on and lend a hand. Camping is permitted and the BBQ will be available for all to use.

Easter weekend from Friday 10th April.

If you are available, we would sincerely appreciate a hand if only for a few hours. If you are able to bring a trailer, chainsaw and wire cutters, bolt cutters, fencing pliers etc. it would be handy but not essential. Also bring gloves and safety glasses, etc if you have them.

Coffee & tea will be supplied through the weekend.

MOTORCYCLING SA 2020 ELITE RIDER PROGRAM SQUAD ANNOUNCED

Motorcycling SA are thrilled to be relaunching the Motorcycling SA Elite Rider Program in 2020, after opening up applications only a few weeks ago, we have been inundated by fantastic applications from riders wanting to participate in the Elite Rider Program & the Elite Rider Conference coming up at the end of this month.  With the bar being set at a very high standard from the years gone past this made selection for this year’s squad very difficult.

The Elite Rider Program remains aimed at the finest & most talented young riders aged between 16 and under 21, to assist them in building their racing careers.  With the specific focus to ensure the highest quality riders are offered the opportunities of being part of the squad.

“South Australia has some great talent and it’s important to offer development opportunities to those who strive to be the best in South Australia. Our young riders of today need to have the same or better opportunities to make that elite level as some of our larger neighbours. The Elite Rider Program enables us to work closely with the best young talent in SA, and from a range of disciplines” says Brenton Matters, Motorcycling SA President.

In 2020 the Elite Rider Program will be condensed into two full days of intensive off bike training in a conference format aimed at increasing the selected rider’s knowledge in areas of fitness, nutrition, media and marketing as well as helping them with mental preparation. These tools will enhance participant’s performance & profile within the sport.

Each rider has been selected by Motorcycling SA because they have demonstrated excellent results over the past year(s).  In addition to their results they have been able to demonstrate that they have a great attitude and commitment, with the potential to be future champions of our sport and to become excellent ambassadors & representatives for motorcycling.

“This new 2 day format for the program is going to be a steep learning curve, and physical test, for all the selected riders, but it will be so useful for their future development within the sport & careers” he says.

These selected riders will be put through their paces on the April 4th and then on July 18th.

The Motorcycling SA Elite Rider Program will once again follow all the Squad members throughout their season, providing follow up sessions as needed, and tracking performance on track.

Stay tuned for more announcements in the coming days about the program.
