EAGLE TRAILERS & CAMPERS 2019 SA MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS TO LAUNCH OUT THE GATE THIS WEEKEND AT RENMARK!

EAGLE TRAILERS & CAMPERS 2019 SA MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS TO LAUNCH OUT THE GATE THIS WEEKEND AT RENMARK!

After whetting the appetite with the EP Series and the King of the Gulf meetings, this weekend sees round 1 of the 2019 SA Motocross Championships, partnered again by the brilliant crew from Eagle Trailers & Campers, with support from Butler’s Mechanical Services and Titanium Security Arena.

As in 2018, the Riverland JMC is hosting round 1 at their Renmark venue, which is located on the Sturt Highway at Renmark (Be aware turning off the highway it is in a 110kmh zone, so please take care!).

Almost 230 entries have been received for the opening round, and looking through the entry list, it is very much the cream of the crop when it comes to motocross in South Australia, so heading to Renmark will be a great way to see some fantastic racing across all classes, junior and senior.

One rider to watch this weekend will be SA’s outstanding junior rider, Alex Larwood (pictured below), current double Australian Champion and recently selected Australian team member to the 2019 World Junior Motocross Championships to be held in Russia later this year.

Being a 2 day event, with juniors on Saturday and seniors on Sunday (as well as Junior 250cc), camping is permitted at the venue with showers available (with a small donation that can be paid at the canteen).

Speaking of the canteen – hot and cold food and drinks will be available all weekend, with some prime viewing spots for all.

Admission for spectators is also aimed at being family friendly;

Saturday;   Adults $5.00       Juniors $2.00

Sunday       Adults $10.00     Juniors $5.00

Gates open at 6.00am both days with practice starting from 8.00am

Event programmes also available – get yours to follow the action!

Not a bad view of the great venue that opens the 2019 SA Motocross Championships, and just a few of the super talented female MX stars SA boasts at the moment (from left) Aimee Butler, Steph Cutler, Tarja Morris & Emma Haylock, along with Emma’s dad, Ian.

The junior action on Saturday will be full on, and worth getting to Renmark to watch the outstanding future of the sport here in SA!

NATIONAL TRIALS DAY A GOOD SUCCESS.

May 6, 2019 Filed Under: News, Trials

NATIONAL TRIALS DAY A GOOD SUCCESS.

National Trials Day, which sees every state in Australia run a trial (on the same day) was introduced in 2018 as a way for the Team Australia Trials des Nations team to raise money to help get the team to the Trials des Nations each year, with this year’s South Australian National Trials Day held on Sunday, May 5th at Tungkillo.

2018 MSA Rising Star Award nominees Alex Cowan & Lillie Yiatrou both had first up wins in Trial 2 (A Grade) & Trial 3 (B Grade) at the National Trials Day event.

Run by the AJS MTC in extremely dry conditions at a new venue at Tungkillo, 40 riders attacked the rocks on the day, with over $1000.00 raised on the day to go towards the team, a team which includes South Aussies Connor Hogan & Lillie Yiatrou in 2019.

While Connor wasn’t in attendance due to being in Scotland to prepare for the 2019 Scottish 6 Day Trial, Lillie was in action at the event, and scored her first ever win in the Trial 3 (B Grade) class, a great effort by the 15 year old junior rider.

In fact, it was a day for SA’s younger riders to shine, with 16 year old Alex Cowan taking out his first win in Trial 2 (A Grade) with a fine ride to best the evergreen Steven Rees, with 14 year old Haydon Barwick in 3rd and another teenager in 16 year old Josh Rees in 5th.

Trial 4 (C Grade) saw the experienced riders keep the youngsters at bay, with Tony Baughan (on a countback from), Peter Arnold & Brian Lang just managing to keep the current Australian Under 13 Champion, Hayden Eardley off of the podium.

In Trial 5 (Clubman) it was another teenager in Jasmine Tarrant who led home her more experienced competitors on the day, with the single point win being one of the closest results in the senior classes.

(Above) Josh Rees tests out the limits of his rear tyre, while Jasmine Tarrant jumps for the exit of the section
(Below) Haydon Barwick shows his effort face, while the ‘future’ takes a breather during the day!

In the junior classes Ryan Tarrant had a good win in Junior A over his cousin, Charlotte Cowan, with the land owner’s son, Carl Henschke, rounding out the podium.

In Junior B and the battle of the boys & girls, this was a day for the girls, with Hayley Stephen leading home Ashley Barwick, with Isaac Schultz the first of the boys in 3rd and Harry Peterson in 4th.

The juniors in the South Australian trials community continue to lead the way and are doing some amazing things at these events and are well worth coming out to watch, with all trials having free entry to spectators.

The next event in in 2 short weeks time, on May 19th, with the ‘Keep Ya Feet Up’ trial being run by the Gawler MCC, again at Tungkillo, but this time on the main road to Palmer. To enter to ride, go to www.trialsport.com.au/entries

2019 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN RELIABILITY TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP KICKS OFF THIS SATURDAY AT TARLEE.

May 3, 2019 Filed Under: News, Reliability, State Championship

2019 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN RELIABILITY TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP KICKS OFF THIS SATURDAY AT TARLEE.

This Saturday (tomorrow) sees the 2019 SART Championship kick off with the first of 7 rounds, the Galwer MCC’s Phillip Haydon Reliability Trial, which will start with about 140 entries, solo and sidecar, at the oval of the small mid-north town of Tarlee at midday!

Run in honour of 2 time 24 Hour Trial winner, the late Phillip Haydon, this traditional season opener once again looks to be a dry affair, with little rain falling in the area, and what has fallen in the past 2 days not enough to quell the dust!

However, if you are heading out to watch, perhaps put in a rain jacket, as it wouldn’t be the first time that the first decent and heavy rains of the season have started to fall not long after bike #1 starts their 6 hour journey in this event!

Spectators won’t have far to go to watch some great action, with a competitive section right next to the main control, with some of SA’s junior talent on show between laps on this part of the course to keep all entertained.

So, with free entry for spectators, a fully catered event at Main Control, bring along a deck chair and sit down to watch some great 2, AND 3, wheeled action during the afternoon and into the evening of this day/night event.

Here’s all the low down of the day;

SA’S BEST TO TAKE THE TEST AT MONARTO FOR THIS WEEKEND’S MX NATIONALS ROUND

SA’S BEST TO TAKE THE TEST AT MONARTO FOR THIS WEEKEND’S MX NATIONALS ROUND

10 of South Australia’s best motocross riders will take on the best from around the country this weekend at Monarto for rounds 4 & 5 of the 2019 Pirelli MX Nationals, which also features rounds 1 & 2 of the YMF Women’s Championship.

The charge will be led in the Thor MX1 450 Class by factory Yamaha rider, Kirk Gibbs, who is now Queensland based and riding for the CDR Yamaha Monster Energy Team, with the current MX des Nations team rider looking to do well in front of his home crowd and family & friends.

At the moment Kirk is 3rd in the standings, only 7 points off of Haydon Mellross in the Championship lead and 5 points behind Luke Clout on the middle step of the podium, so it’s probably a guarantee that the racing is going to be full on this weekend!

Also looking to do well in the premier class of Australian MX will be the former international rider (AMA America), and one of SA’s all-time greats, Brett Metcalfe, who will be riding for the  Penrite Factory Honda Racing Team, along with one of SA’s premier coaches in Daniel Banks (Banks MX Coaching powered by KTM), along with 2018 King of the Gulf Mitch Norris (Hoey Suspension) and Izak Maule (Honda, SPMX, Pirelli, Fly Racing, SK Designs, M2R Helmets, Scott).

In the Pirelli MX2 Class, Jordan Waters (OatesMX, Yamaha, Thor, Spy, Maxima) will be the lone South Aussie in a hot class being led at the moment by the reigning Champion, Wilson Todd, with Jay Wilson & Aaron tanti already looking to be, perhaps, fighting over 2nd in the Championship!

In the Motul MXD Under 19’s Class, and like Jordan, Keith’s Jaxon Raynor (Keith Sand & Metal, Bridgeland Motorcycles, Performance Moto, Oakley) will be flying the SA flag on his own as he takes on the cream of Australia’s under 19 motocross stars!

The class is being led by Regan Duffy who has a slight 5 point lead over Rhys Budd with Maximus Purvis within striking distance in 3rd.

Kicking off this weekend will also be the YMF Australian Women’s Championship, with the SA trio of, newly crowned SA Women’s Cup Champion, Steph Cutler (Northern Motorcycles, SK Designs, BMS Racing), 2018 SA#1 Amy Bartch (Hoey Racing, Stratco, NOW Construction & Property Maintenance) and Charlotte Berrill (Bridgeland Motorcycles, RapidMX, Flow Vision Company, Funnelweb Filters) leading the home town charge.

All will be chasing the girl they call ‘Mad Meg’, Meghan Rutledge (Kawasaki Australia, Fox, Hitachi Power Tools Australia), with all eyes on Rutledge as she looks to continue the form she has so far shown in 2019, which included the opening round of the Women’s World MX Championship.

About the venue & the weekend’s action;

GATES OPEN: 7.30am
RIDING STARTS AT: 8.00am

Murray Bridge has been on the MX Nationals Calendar for many years now and for good reason – It’s highly regarded as being one of the best circuits in Australia. The flowing turns and red sand allow riders to be very aggressive and carry lots of corner speed. The massive roller section at the back of the circuit is one of the major keys to the race proving to be very technical, it’s also a fan favourite.

This year is a double header so get excited; you’ll be able to have double the fun with double the action.  You will need to buy your tickets at the gate, but the prices won’t break the bank! So, get down trackside to witness the top riders in Australia.

1-Day Pass – $30.00 for Adults, $20.00 for kids (6-15 years), Family Pass is $70.00

2-Day Pass – $50.00 for Adults, $30.00 for Kids (6-15 years), Family Pass $100.00
