bLU cRU SA JUNIOR CUP’S COOPER PITT – HIS RIDE REPORT FROM THE 3 DAY TRAINING CAMP AT MAC PARK. 22/01/2022

bLU cRU SA JUNIOR CUP’S COOPER PITT – HIS RIDE REPORT FROM THE 3 DAY TRAINING CAMP AT MAC PARK. 22/01/2022

Awesome to see some of the inaugural bLU cRU SA Junior Cup squad starting to get busy on Social Media and promoting themselves and what they are doing this year – and here is the first one to surface from one of the ‘new guys’ – ie; brand new to road race in 2022, Cooper Pitt, and you’ll find his report on the Levis MCC Facebook page – and it has been copied here, with thanks!

COOPER PITT RIDE REPORT, 3 DAY TRAINING CAMP AT MAC PARK. 22/01/2022

The bLU cRU SA Junior Cup has finally started with a 3 day, Levi Day training camp at MacNamara Park, Mount Gambier.

Over the span of three days at Mac Park we did lots of training and riding. We were coached by Tyra Lynch, Willy Strugnell and Kym Bolto. I found it enjoyable with those three coaching us because we were always having fun with every activity we did throughout the days.

During our riding sessions Rebecca Bowdidge from Pit Lane Studio was taking photos of us kids so that we could look at them on the laptop and talk about body positions which was helpful for the rest of the sessions.

Before we could ride, we still had to find out what number bike we were going to ride for the whole racing season. I was excited to find out I was going to be riding the famous number 27. I was also happy to be presented with a $150.00 AMX Superstores gift card that I will be using to buy a back protector, thanks AMX!

On the first day we had quite an early start with a track walk to discuss racing lines and where to ride on the track. First session was a little slow as I was getting used to the GP shift because I have only ever ridden a dirt bike.

By the end of the day, I was getting more comfortable and was tuning in 1min 44 second laps, it’s a start.

On the second day we did some stretching and some core strength exercises to get warm for another session on the bikes.

In the first session of the day, I really enjoyed it because I was improving my times and I was getting better with the GP shift pattern. By the end of the day, I was getting better on the bike, and I was starting to get 1min 40 second laps.

On the third day Rebecca from Pit Lane Studio individually took photos of us with our bikes.

After the photos Ty, Willy, and Kym taught us the importance of getting our upper body lower during a corner. By the end of the day I was comfortable on the bike, and I was getting 1min 37second laps and dipping my toes into the 1 min 36second laps.

Throughout the three days I learnt a lot about riding.

  1. Body position
  2. Corner speed
  3. GP shift
  4. Core strength exercises
  5. Racing lines
  6. Race starts

I would like to thank all the official bLU cRU SA Junior Cup series sponsors, the Levis Motorcycle Club, Mark Hoey (Leathers), Levi Day’s On Track Rider Training, all the coaches and guys that helped (Ty, Struggy, Kym, Allan, Andy, Chris & Wade), Bec Bowdidge, Mac Park (Shorty) and everyone else who made this such a good event, especially my Mum and stepdad Mark.

Thanks everyone,
Cooper Pitt # 27

bLU cRU SA JUNIOR CUP – AN AWESOME 3 DAY CAMP FOR THE CLASS OF 2022!

bLU cRU SA JUNIOR CUP – AN AWESOME 3 DAY CAMP FOR THE CLASS OF 2022!

With a huge thanks to Levi Day’s On Track Rider Training crew, the inaugural bLU cRU South Australian Junior Cup took another huge step forward over the past 3 days at MacNamara Park (Mac Park) Raceway in Mount Gambier where, for the first time, the whole squad got together and hit hit the track on their awesome looking Yamaha R15 bikes.

With Levi still in England, it was left up to coaches Will Strugnell, Tyra Lynch and Kym Bolto, who were ably assisted by Allan Bolto and Wade Sweet, to put the squad of 12, along with guest rider Ryder Sweet, through their paces over the 3 day camp. All facets of racing were covered, starts, cornering, race lines,  even getting tucked in behind the fairing to minimise wind resistance, flow and maintaining corner speed – which is so different for some of the dirt bike kids making the transition to bitumen!

All were also put through a number of off bike requirements, including bike maintenance and preparation, race preparation for the rider and his race gear, as well as extra things, like dealing with the media, as all riders were interviewed by Rebecca Bowdidge from Pit Lane Studios – can’t wait to see those videos come out!

This SA Junior Cup is the vision of Road Race Sports Manager, Kym Bolto, so, what did he think about the camp; “To witness and be a part of the team from day 1 to day 3 of the On Bike Rider Training with Levi Day for our SA juniors was nothing short of brilliant. The mateship and rapport shown now within the group of not only riders but parents alike is sensational. The skills learned and the transformation of the riders on track proves that this concept works and I can’t wait for this season to get underway. Thank you to Ty, Will, Andy, Allan and Chris for your time and efforts over the 3 days. Plus, a special thank you to Bec from Pit lane Studios for her efforts in recording all the happenings over the past 3 days!”

And from Natasha Warren, one of the riders mum’s, “Thank you so much and to all the other team involved for the coaching opportunity over the last 3 days for Lucas.  He did not stop talking about it when he arrived home last night. He is so in love with this sport and so very excited about this year.  I am just loving seeing him be so passionate about this and wanted to learn everything he can. Thank you again.”

So – who makes up the inaugural bLU cRU South Australian Junior Cup squad – well, here they are;

ARCHIE SCHMIDT – CAMERON RENDE – COOPER PITT – ETHAN DELLOW – FRED BARRY – JAMES HOWIE

LUCAS WARREN – RIKKI HENRY – RYDER GILBERT – SETH DELLOW – TOMI DOBLE – XAVION AMOY

Ryder Sweet was invited as a guest rider for the camp and also joined in the group pic (above left & centre) and as the days and weeks count down to the start of this inaugural series here in SA – APRIL 15-16-17 as part of round 2 of the 2022 SA Road Race Championships, again at Mac Park in Mt Gambier – the support and interest in the Series continues to grow, so look for junior road racing in South Australia to boom over the coming years – and especially with the great support shown to the Series already (above right pic)

AND: For anyone, potential future champion or business, who would like more information on how to get involved in, or support this great new Series, which will form a part of a funnel through to the Oceania Junior Cup to Asian Junior Cup to Red Bull Rookies and onto Moto GP, and to help SA (and Australia) uncover our next great Champion in the making – contact Kym Bolto – roadrace@motorcyclingsa.org.au – for all the details!

ATTENTION ALL JUNIOR RIDERS INDEED – MRA STARTS 2022 OFF WITH A BANG!

ATTENTION ALL JUNIOR RIDERS INDEED – MRA STARTS 2022 OFF WITH A BANG!
The Motocross Riders Association are looking forward to a bigger and better year and for those who missed our announcement at their AGM, they have now launched their exciting new MRA Junior Development Program…
As part of their 2022 Club Membership, junior members have been invited to participate in our Junior Development program “MRA Rev Rookies“.
• Subsidised Coaching Sessions – All MRA junior club members have been invited to attend their multiple junior coaching days with Shane Metcalfe, with the costs for these days subsidised by the Club at a heavily discounted rate!!
• AND  included is Free Merchandise for each participant
• And last but certainly not least, MRA are committed to supporting our riders entering the 2022 AJMX Australian Championships to be held in September/October – date TBA. This includes financial support and training opportunities leading up to the event!
Well, day 1 was run on January 16th to rave reviews, from the MRA Club, the coaching crew and riders and parents alike!
.

Said Shane Metcalfe about the day, “As the main coach for the day and the club we put together a new kind of program which is very exciting, what the club is doing at the moment for its members and the sport is next to none, leading the way. To offer cheaper coaching days, putting merchandise together for participants, as well as putting aside days for this type of thing is unreal. For me we are trying something different also, each session will have a topic for the day, Sunday we went back to basics, the basics is very often overlooked by many but it is the most important part to making riders safer and better riders which is what we are aiming for here, help produce better riders, maybe not faster, but safer and more controlled.”

The 2nd date coming up is January 30th – for junior members aged over 12 years – and stay tuned for more dates to be announced throughout season 2022 – and a huge well done to all at MRA for making this happen in 2022.
