STOP THE PRESSES; 2018 NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS!

July 3, 2018 Filed Under: All disciplines, News

Due to the availability of the brand new venue to be used, Motorcycling SA would like to announce that the 2018 MSA Night of Champions will now take place on Saturday, November 24th, with a kick off time of 6.00pm. This is 2 weeks later than the original date that was first released!

What is most satisfying from an organisation point of view, is securing this fantastic new venue, which will offer many new exciting possibilities when our ‘night of nights’ takes place this November!

With seating for over 200 people, and situated to the west of the city, but only 15 minutes from the CBD, this venue has car parking for hundreds of cars, and easy access for all ages, as well as a function centre where all seats will give a great view of the presentations!

The name of this great new venue??

Well, it is the home to two of SA’s most famous and successful sports teams, on a given Saturday night in Summer 8000 fans make the place get louder than any other venue in SA – and – it is the home to SA’s most awesome sporting mascot, Murray the Magpie!

If you are guessing the Titanium Security Arena, 44A Crittenden Road at Findon, the home of the Adelaide 36ers and Adelaide Lightning National Basketball League teams – then you are correct!

Heading to ‘the Arena’ not only offers the chance for an awesome bike display on their centre court, they also use the brilliant Titanium Arena Catering, so, it is now time to ‘GET IN THE MOOD’ and ‘SAVE THE DATE’ for 2018 and start thinking about booking a table at the 2018 Motorcycling SA Night of Champions.

Stay tuned for more information on how to book online, either a single ticket or bring a group from your club and book a table of 10!

A full programme of highlights is being put together at present as well, with the night to feature the annual awards and trophies being presented. This means it’s also time to start thinking about YOUR and YOUR CLUB’s nominations for these awards, as without your input there can’t be any winners of the awards – to select a winner, the MSA Board needs to have some nominations!

Ø  The next inductee(s) into the MSA Hall of Fame – to join our 6 ‘legends’!

Ø  Motorcycling SA Life Membership – for an outstanding life in motorcycling

Ø  The Frank Franklin Trophy – our most prestigious individual award

Ø  The Rising Star Award – with a new look for our most outstanding junior riders

Ø  The Regional Volunteer Awards – for our hard working volunteers

And, as always, the MSA Office staff will select the highly coveted Club of the Year Award – the yearly ‘battle’ between our brilliant clubs.

Nominations for the 2018 MSA Hall of Fame are already open, with all the details on the Motorcycling SA website; www.motorcyclingsa.org.au/about-us/Honor-Board

Nominations for all of the other awards will OPEN on Wednesday, August 1st; STAY TUNED!

MA Introduces New Crew Licence

June 20, 2018 Filed Under: All disciplines, News

Motorcycling Australia (MA) is pleased to announce the introduction of the new ‘Crew Licence’ as an optional licence that offers Personal Accident (PA) Insurance for any crew member supporting competitors in or around MA Permitted competition events. This license will be an expansion and renaming of the current ‘Mechanic License’ available on Ridernet and set up in the Manual of Motorcycle Sport (MoMs).

This new Crew Licence will be eligible for crew members, friends or family members supporting competitors in or around events and offers PA coverage that will see them receive the same benefits as MA Licensed riders. Licence holders will be reimbursed for new-medicare medical expenses such as chiropractic, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, dental & osteopathy for up to a maximum of $5,000, net of any private health insurance entitlements, and incurred within 52 weeks of the date of injury.

The Crew License also offers piece of mind for family members reimbursing licence holders up to $125 a night accomodation, if an licence holder is hospitalised more than 250km from home and cannot be moved to a hospital closer to home.

The benefits don’t stop on the track with access to exclusive MA discounts and member benefits such as discount codes for tickets, sponsor discounts, MA Newsletter and early bird opportunities.

MA Chief Executive Officer Peter Doyle welcomes the new licence; “This is great for our members, providing exclusive benefits and discounts alongside peace of mind at a race meeting. It’s all about providing crew members an option to be covered by insurance at an affordable cost.”

The crew license will remain mandatory to access the pits in Speedway, just like the mechanic licence but will be optional in all other disciplines.

Holders of a Senior National Competition Licence will not require a Crew Licence to benefit from the same coverage (this excludes Speedway).

Promoters may enforce that attendees require a Crew Licence to access restricted higher risk areas. This will be outlined in the Supplementary Regulations relevant to that event and must be approved by the relavant controlling body.

The cost of the licence will remain the same as the current Speedway Mechanic licence at $75.
