Champions Rise at the 2024 SA Dirt Track Championships

September 11, 2024 Filed Under: Dirt Track, News, State Championship

The 2024 SA Dirt Track Championships roared into action on Sunday, September 8th, at the Mud N Tars MCC Day Road Dirt Track Circuit. Taking centre stage, former SA Champions lined up once again against the rising stars of the sport for a full day of bar-to-bar action. One thing was certain from the outset: the competition would be as close as ever for the 2024 Championship glory.

With 45 riders and 80 bikes from various racing disciplines converging on Victor Harbor, the stakes were high. Each competitor was driven by the desire to claim SA Championship glory and secure a place on the prestigious trophy alongside past champions.

Mud N Tars MCC President Wade Sweet reflected on the day, saying, “What an awesome day of racing at the South Australian Dirt Track Championship, with close to full gates in some of our Junior classes. We had entrants from as far as NSW come to compete against South Australia’s best dirt track riders. Dirt Track is certainly not dead in our state, and we look forward to bringing this event back as a twilight race under lights in 2025.”

A huge congratulations to all the competitors for an incredible day of racing, with a special recognition for those who etched their names into the history books as the 2024 champions!

Countdown to the 2024 SA Dirt Track Championship: Excitement and Dirt Track Competition Await!

September 5, 2024 Filed Under: Dirt Track, News, State Championship

This Sunday, September 8th, the highly anticipated 2024 SA Dirt Track Championship returns as Mud N Tars MCC unleashes the excitement at the Day Road Dirt Track Circuit. With 45 riders and 80 bikes from SA, NSW, and VIC already locked in, and entries still open until Friday, September 6th, the competition promises to be tighter than ever. With such a fierce lineup, each contender will need to bring their best as they fight for the prestigious State Championship title.

Competitors:

After narrowly missing out on the 2023 Pro 450 Championship title, Kyle Machin returns with renewed determination to claim the crown in 2024. However, with seasoned competitors like Liam May, Victoria’s Riley Plum, and NSW’s Jayden Roberts all eyeing the top spot, the path to victory will be anything but easy.

Kyle Machin.

With the 250cc class heating up, reigning champion Casey Clarke is ready to take charge and push his championship run into 2024.

Joining the talented lineup this weekend, SA’s Jamie Gwiazda and Kirsty Schults are set to dominate the Pro Women’s Class, while Julian Timmis and Robert Stout will prove that age and experience go hand in hand in the Veterans 40+ class. Meanwhile, the relentless James Hayden and Tyler Battams are gearing up for a fierce showdown against 2023 Junior Champion Harry Sadler, who is making his debut in senior competition for 2024.

Casey Clarke.

Adding to the weekend’s buzz, more than 35 junior racers will provide a thrilling glimpse into the future of the sport. Among them, Archie Schmidt is trading in his road bike for some dirt track action as he returns to defend his 85cc 2-stroke and 150cc 4-stroke Championship titles. But with a stacked field of competition, including rising star Connor Machin, the battle for the top spot is far from guaranteed. Will Archie steal the show once again, or will the fierce competition have something to say about that?

Rounding out the weekend’s stacked lineup of classes, an aspiring group of 50cc demo non-comp riders will take to the track, soaking up all the excitement and atmosphere of a state championship before making their entrance into competitions in the coming years.

RESULTS – 2023 THE LONG AWAITED RETURN OF THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

June 30, 2023 Filed Under: Dirt Track, News

After a hiatus since 2019, the SA Dirt Track Championships made a long-awaited, welcomed return last Sunday 25 June to Mud N Tars MCC. Despite the day being plagued with challenging weather conditions, competitors, volunteers and Officials fought through to put on a fantastic 2023 SA Dirt Track Championships. Spectators braving the weather were treated to exceptional racing all day and kept well taken care of by the fantastic club volunteers in the canteen and bar.

Over 6o riders from countless different disciplines, made the trip to Victor Harbor, all ready to put it on the line for the SA Championship glory and have their name alongside previous Champions on the coveted trophy.

Braving the elements throughout the day, Sally Porter from “Porter Photography” and Eric McConnochie caught all the action with just some of the shots below and plenty more to purchase on their websites.

It was great to see previous multi-National Dirt Track Champion and ASBK racer, Ty Lynch return to the club and track where he started his career all those years ago. Proving he could still throw it around on the dirt, his consistent smooth racing brought him home in the top spot for 2023 in the Pro 450cc class – Fantastic job!!

Congratulations to all the competitors for a great day of racing and well done to all that added their names to history as champions for 2023.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS MAKES A ROARING RETURN TO MUD N TARS IN 2023

June 22, 2023 Filed Under: Dirt Track, News

After a hiatus since 2018, the South Australian Dirt Track Championships are set to make a long-awaited return to Mud N Tars MCC this Sunday 25 June. Being an iconic SA staple event pre-Covid, the SA Dirt Track Championships attract riders and spectators from all over SA for thrilling bar-to-bar, fast-paced dirt track action.

Competitors:

Dirt Track is certainly alive and well in SA, with over 60 riders entered and 80 bikes set to take to the track throughout the day – You’re not going to want to miss a second of the action.

Many State and International riders started their careers racing dirt track at Mud N Tars MCC and this Sunday, we see the return of many back to their roots, all with the shared goal of claiming the SA Championship title and glory.

Previous 2 time U19 Pro 250cc Dirt Track Australian Champion and ASBK racer Ty Lynch is set to hit the track and take on some stiff competition in both the MX Open and Pro 450 class. He is going to need to stay on his toes with a stacked Pro 450 field including Mud N Tars local, Kyle Machin and Speedway Riders Association, Liam May, determined to stop his Championship campaign. Lynch quoted saying “I’m extremely looking forward to getting back to the club that I grew up riding and racing as a junior early in my career. It’s so great to have the SA Dirt Track Championships back after not having it for years”.

It’s going to come down to the line in the 65cc 2-stroke class with heavy hitters Judd Plaisted, Blake Schlein and Bodhi Austin, all battling it out to see who can end up on top for 2023.

Robert Hayden will certainly be showing vintage machines can hold their own in Dirt Track racing, competing in all the Pre 1975 126cc & above, Pre 1985 All-Powers and Pre 75 Solo Up to 125cc classes.

PRESS RELEASE :- DIRT TRACK IN SA – LOOKING FOR A RESURGANCE IN 2023!

December 19, 2022 Filed Under: Dirt Track, News, SA Women in Motorcycling

After a number of years with no Championship, mainly due to COVID and the issues that has caused to the sport in general, the Mud N Tars MCC are looking to 2023 as the time for a resurgence in the discipline and are already looking to June and the 2023 South Australian Dirt Track Championships, being held at their brilliant Day Road venue.

Says Mud N Tars MCC President Wade Sweet, “Our Club has already started planning for the 2023 SA Championships to be one of the biggest and best we have yet run, and we are really putting an emphasis on getting a large entry, especially as this will be the first Championships to be held since 2019.

We are very proud of our Day Road facility and the amount of effort from Club members to make it what it is, and we want to see it being used more often, so we look forward to seeing everyone in Victor in June!”

Stay tuned for more information to come out in early 2023 regarding the SA Championships, but Wade did state that their excellent canteen will be open to fully cater the Championships, and that to warm up for the Championships, the Club will be running a number of RPA days so people can get familiar with the venue.

SIDEWINDERS U16 SPEEDWAY CLUB LIGHTS UP – 2022/23 SA U16 125CC SPEEDWAY SOLO CHAMPIONSHIPS

December 9, 2022 Filed Under: Dirt Track, News, Speedway

South Australia’s fastest U16 125cc Speedway Solo riders came together at Sidewinders U16 Speedway club last weekend to settle once and for all, who will hold the crown for another year. Glorious 24 degree sunshine made a perfect day for both spectators and riders to enjoy extremely fast racing conditions.

The Solo Championships was run last Saturday (3rd December 2022) with 20 heats. The 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th  highest point scorer riders came together in the B final to see who gets the one opportunity to move onto the A’s main final. South Australian riders Darcey Timmis, Ryleigh McGregor and Hayden Kuchel fought it out with Victorian Blake Schlein for the final chance, with Darcey Timmis standing on top in the end.

Harry Sadler had an exceptional day looking to take clean sweeps of first places but was pipped to the mark in round 2, finishing in second place for that round to fellow South Australian Kobi Canning. South Australian’s dominated the A Main Final of riders with Harry Sadler, Kobi Canning and Darcey Timmis taking on New South Wales rider Cooper Antone. Cooper was determined to upset the apple cart and steal away the South Australian Championship crown but wasn’t able to hold off Harry and settled for a second place. Kobi Canning stood proud with the third place green sash and Darcy took home the fourth place white sash.

It was Harry’s day overall and is now the back to back South Australia’s Under 16 125cc Speedway Solo Champion.  Well done lad!!
