PROVISIONAL RESULTS – 2023 SART CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 5: THE RIVER MURRAY RELIABILITY TRIAL

September 5, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability

Round 5 of the SA Reliability Trials Championships – The River Murray Trial kicked off last Saturday the 2nd of September through Palmer district. The SAPMAC Motorcycle Club put in the hard yards and hosted an exceptional event, bringing the finish of the SA Reliability 2023 Championship season even closer.

Continuing his 2023 SA Reliability Trials Championship dominance, Rowan Pumpa put down a solid day on the bike to take the provisional overall Open Solo win ahead of Clinton Voight by 1 minute and 8 seconds. The fight for second and third place was exceptionally closer with Jesse Lange coming out of the gates strong on the first lap finishing 5 seconds ahead of Clinton going into lap 2. Clinton found the answer and came back to regain second place after lap 2 by a mere 2 seconds ahead of Jesse Lange, who settled for third.

With the course whittling down 20-weekend starters to 15 sidecar teams making the finish, it was the dynamic brother duo of Max Hutchesson and Sam Hutchesson who had all the right moves to take the provisional top spot in Open Sidecar and finish with a cracking time to finish 32nd overall for the round. Current points leaders Shaun Buckley and Brett Harding took second place and Bradley Manuel / Bradley Brook in third. This now tightens the Open Sidecar points table right up. If nothing changes in the top provisional results for this round, Shaun Buckley and Brett Harding will go into the final round 6 with a single-point lead ahead of Max Hutchesson and Sam Hutchesson, who have now been moved into second.

Provisional open solo and sidecar results are below, with details and results by class available on the SART website HERE.

(Note Competitors have until midnight on Saturday, September 9th to challenge or query any results).

The sixth and final round of the 2023 SA Reliability Trials Championships all comes together at Clare for the Beryl Pearse Trial on Saturday the 23rd of September. This daytime, 2-lap format is the last chance for riders to lock away valuable points and after a season of unexpected twists, upset losses and fairy-tale finishers, one thing is for certain… the Clare MCC is guaranteed to bring the 2023 Reliability Trial Championship home with a BANG!!

Event Preview: Points Gaps Tighten Ahead Of The 2023 River Murray Reliability Trial

September 1, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability

The 2023 River Murray Reliability Trial presented by the SAPMAC Motorcycle Club will take off this Saturday through the Palmer district and is already shaping up to be a fantastic lead into the finish line of the 2023 SART Championship. Already showing to be a popular event and with the limited sunshine, entries hit capacity and closed early. Over 110 riders will be lining up to take on the full-day riding format of 2 laps and over 6 hours of bike time throughout a challenging dusty course. With points gaps closing quickly and this being the second to last Championship round for the year, riders will be pulling out all the stops and taking every opportunity to get a leg up on the competition before the 2023 SART finale.

Entry List:

Continuing to lead the Open Solo 2023 SART Championships points table, Rowan Pumpa is all set to take to the course and continue his already confident 2023 Championship lead. After a 7th place finish in the Gil Harris Reliability Trial, Clinton Voigt will be looking to redeem some points this weekend to stay in the running to keep the overall P2 position 2023 SART Championship outright Open Solo.

This weekend is going to set the 2023 SART Sidecar overall points table alight with dynamic duo Shaun Buckley and Brett Harding coming into the round with a mere 4-point lead, ahead of teams Daniel Plowman / Bradley Brook and Max Hutchesson / Sam Hutchesson, who are both tied on 60 points.
Ross Watson and Cooper Winter still have time to close the 6 point gap to make it into the top 3 position. The question on everyone’s lips is, can they get it done with 2 rounds to go??

The event Main Control is all set up at Palmer Oval (Collier Park) Randall Rd, Palmer – (Plan your trip HERE). Unfortunately due to the limited parking on the oval, we are asking all spectators to park on the road outside of the oval and make the short walk in to enjoy all the food, drink and reliability trials atmosphere on the oval.

An important reminder to everyone on a motorcycle or sidecar that helmets must be worn at all times riding around the oval.

Competition Information:

The place to see all the action will be the main control (address above) as unfortunately due to restrictions, there will be NO ACCESS TO COMPETITION SECTIONS for the public. Only Control Officials and riders are permitted to enter any property that the trial runs on.

Spectators and riders will be well fed with Collier Park Management taking care of all the catering, however, there will be no bar facilities at this Reliability Trials event.

Following the landowner’s wishes and the permit rules through MSA, unfortunately, dogs are NOT permitted at this event, with the exception of service animals accepted.

RESULTS AND REPORT – 2023 bLU cRU SA JUNIOR CUP ROUND 4 RECAP BY LUCAS WARREN

August 29, 2023 Filed Under: News, Road Racing, SA Junior Cup

Over the 27th and 28th of August, our own future road racing stars returned to the Monarto Go Kart track for round 4 of the 2023 bLU cRU SA Junior Cup as a support class to the talent of the FIM MiniGP Australia Series. After a full weekend of on-track battles and series points challengers, we caught up with young #68 Lucas Warren to see how his weekend turned out…

Wow, what a weekend full of mixed feelings. I was really looking forward to returning to the Go Kart Club of SA at Monarto for another round of racing. When we were last here back in June 2023 for Round 2, I had my career-best result. I felt there was a bit of pressure to see if I could do it again or not and I did which was awesome!!

Racing on this track is brilliant as this track is not all about straight line speed and slipstreaming, which I find tough on the bigger tracks, this track is truly about your race craft, about how late you can brake, carry speed into the corners and then your exit speed.

Qualifying Saturday morning we had some interesting weather conditions with a very overcast and misty rain drizzling in at times, so during warmups, I went out on wet tyres due to the cold, slippery and greasy conditions.

Come to the first qualifying session most of the other riders had changed to the slick tyres, however, I decided to stick with the wet tyre, along with one other rider, to try and put down a strong time to start off with. I managed to set the second fastest time of the session on the very last lap behind Archie Schmidt.

Second qualifying I went out on the slick tyre as the track had started to grip up and was a little warmer and dry. I managed to improve my lap time and continued to hold second in qualifying which meant I would be starting in a great position for each race of the weekend.

In the first race, my nerves were high, and I was focused on getting a good start as this has been something I have been working on. I got a fantastic start and was second behind #69 Archie Schmidt into the first corner. Archie was so quick and was gone in no time, and I held the second position comfortably for the race.

Race two was similar, but not as good of a start and I was close behind #7 Xayvion Amoy and #27 Cooper Pitt as the race went on. I was closing quickly on Xayvion and Cooper and was able to make a tight pass in turn 5, to finish the race in the second position again.

Image: 1st Archie Schmidt, 2nd Lucas Warren and 3rd Cooper Pitt                                                                                                           Image: Pit Lane Studio

The third race was the exact same start, and I was behind Xayvion and Cooper, I was able to get around Cooper and started to close the gap to Xayvion. Whilst coming up again to the fastest part of the track for myself, turn 5, unfortunately, I had a mechanical failure and when I went to brake, my front brakes were just not there. This had to be the scariest moment for me, whilst pumping my brakes and stomping on my back brake to try and pull up so I didn’t hit Xayvion in front.

Unfortunately, I just couldn’t slow down enough, and my front wheel hit Xayvion taking us both down which I feel terrible about as you never want to have mechanical issues and impact others racing. I rushed quickly to get my bike so I could continue the race, finishing this race in position five.

The bLU cRU SA Junior Cup  team looked at my bike straight away and found the master cylinder needed replacing and my brakes needed more fluid, which was fixed in time for the final race of the weekend.

Image: Natasha Warren

Here we go, the final race of the day – I took a deep breath as I knew I could do this. I got a good start, third into the first corner and that’s where I stayed for the entire race.

I finished the weekend in the second position which is the exact same position as in June 2023, but this time I was able to obtain a new PB of 54.1 seconds. Overall, I was not the only one to get new PB’s this weekend, with many of us improving on our lap times from the last time we were here.

I was in the pit next to one of the newer members of bLU cRU SA Junior Cup this year, #42 Josh Schiller. He started the weekend doing lap times over 1 minute, but by the end of the weekend, he absolutely smashed that time by doing 57.5 seconds – how amazing is that!

Thank you to all of the bLU cRU SA Junior Cup sponsors as without you we couldn’t do this sport that we love so much with such ease. Also to the entire bLU cRU SA Junior Cup Team and all the riders and families that are involved in bLU cLU SA Junior Cup, there is just so much support amongst all of us.

With only two rounds to go – I now set my sights to Round 5 at Mac Park, Mt Gambier starting September 29th 2023.

Final outcomes for the weekend were :
🥇Archie Schmidt
🥈Lucas Warren
🥉Cooper Pitt

PROVISIONAL RESULTS – 2023 SA RELIABILITY TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 4: THE GIL HARRIS TRIAL

August 15, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability

Levis MCC presented round 4 of the SA Reliability Trials Championships – The Gil Harris Trial, last Saturday the 12th of August with many families and friends, scouring the course to find the best spot to see their favourite riders take on every challenge the Mallala district had in store, over the 2 lap, day-night format.

Continuing his 2023 Reliability Trials Championship lead, Rowan Pumpa put down fast and consistent lap times to claim the overall P1 and Open Solo win, with a gap of 44 seconds ahead of second-place holder Jesse Lange. Not able to close the gap in the end and rounding out the Solo top 3, William Smith finished his round 4 campaign, just over a minute behind Jesse.

With sights set on making up positions in the Championship Open Sidecar leaderboard, Max Hutchesson and Sam Hutchesson fought the hard fight but couldn’t crack the round 4 top 3, with a p5 finish, just under 2 minutes from winners Brad Manuel / Tyson Rohrlach. The race for second place simply couldn’t get any tighter, entering the last paddock with a 3-second gap behind Shaun Buckley and Brett Harding, the dynamic duo Bradley Hunter and Aiden Wilksch, laid it all on the line to finish 1 second ahead and claim the P2 spot.

We would be remiss if we didn’t send a huge shoutout to the amazing people behind the scenes that made the 2023 Gil Harris Trial such a success. Thank you to Angela and Alex O’Loan for allowing the use of their property as Main Control, all the land owners that allowed the use of their paddocks for competition stages, Levis MCC for putting in the hard yards organising the event and of course the army of volunteers from officials, control keepers, ACRM, First Care Medical, caterers and everyone that supported our event.

Provisional open solo and sidecar results are below, with details and results by class available on the SART website HERE.

(Note competitors have until midnight on Sunday, August 20th to challenge or query any results).

Round 5 of the SA Reliability Trials Championships head to the Murray region on Saturday 2nd September for The River Murray Trial presented by the SAPMAC Motorcycle Club.  With little to no gap between the points leaders, the 2023 Championship decider will come down to the final rounds. Lock in the date now and be there to see the final chapters of the 2023 story.

RESULTS – 2023 SA MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 3 AT SOUTH COAST MCC

August 11, 2023 Filed Under: Motocross, News, SAMX Championship

Last weekend’s 5th and 6th of August saw Round 3 of the 2023 SA Motocross Championships put on a show at the South Coast MXC. Throughout a full 2 days of tight racing, riders put it all on the line, with the points tables heating up and a thrilling 2023 SAMX Championship finale just around the corner, we couldn’t be more excited. Well done to South Coast MXC for their hard work in putting on a great round 3, all the volunteers behind the scenes on and off the track off the track and of course all the riders that gave it their all through a full weekend of fantastic racing.

Thanks again to our series sponsors, Butler’s Mechanical Service and Great Southern Security that have come on board again for the 2023 SAMX Championship series.

Round 4 of the 2023 South Australian Reliability Championships heads to the Mallala district over a full day and night racing format this Saturday 12th August 2023. Presented by Levis MCC the Gil Harris Trial (formerly known as the Theo Nixon Trial) will take centre stage as racing rivalries heat up and points gaps start to shrink.

Entry List:

At just half way through the 2023 SA Reliability Trials Championships season, points leads are starting to dwindle and new class challengers are emerging every round. All we can say is the overall Championship title is still well up for grabs and we cant wait to see what battles are brewing ahead.

Last minute preparations are still happening before a strong field of 136 riders  take on the course this Saturday for the day and night 2 lap format.

With top 2 outright finishers of the Lew Job 2 Day Trial, Cooper Sheidow and Zack Tremaine not taking to the course this weekend, the series leader and 3rd place Lew Job finisher Rowan Pumpa will be looking to extend his already strong 16-point lead ahead of Clinton Voigt and add his name for another year to the Gil Harris honour roll, after last year’s top step finish.

Adam Wright will be looking for any opportunity to continue the climb up the points ladder from his current position, trailing just a mere 5 points behind Clinton for the outright Solo class.

The sidecar overall points leads are about to become a lot tighter with top 2 bikes Daniel Plowman / Bradley Brook and Shane Schiller / Brian Anthony set to miss this round. This opens it up for Max Hutchesson / Sam Hutchesson (third  overall) and Shaun Buckley / Brett Harding (forth overall) to make up some ground as they both sit tied on 44 points (a mere 17 point gap to take over the lead).

Fresh off finishing the 2023 Hardi 24 Hour, Kristy Schultz is teaming up with Clint Grabham to continue her 2023 SART Championship  leading journey in the Ladies All Powers Sidecar class. Can she make it 4 out of 4 wins this weekend for the 2023 SART Championship?? Only time will tell.

Where:

With a course spanning throughout the beautiful Mallala district, the Gil Harris Trial is going to have something for every rider and spectator.  The Main Control, catering and toilets will be located at 305 March Road Grace Plains (Google Maps Here).

Competition Information:

Best to get there early with the first bike leaving Main Control at 12:01pm to kick off the big day ahead. Riders will take on all the challenges thrown at them over 2 laps and around 6 hours of total riding time throughout the region. With plenty of great spots to take in the action, drop into Main Control when you get there to grab a riders list and and directions to all the spectator points.

The Woolshed CFS will be doing the hard yards keeping everyone well taken care of with food and drink throughout the day of competitions. Saturday is certainly looking to be a cracker day to make the short trip out to Mallala and stay for all the reliability trial shenanigans.

We are very fortunate to be able to be able to hold this competition through some stunning bushland and private properties, however unfortunately dogs are NOT permitted at this event, with the exception of service animals accepted.

So all that’s left is to pack the car up and come witness the 2023 Reliability Trials Championship story continue.
