THE 2ND WEEKEND IN JULY – MUST BE TIME FOR SA’s ICONIC ‘HARDI’ 24 HOUR TRIAL!

THE 2ND WEEKEND IN JULY – MUST BE TIME FOR SA’s ICONIC ‘HARDI’ 24 HOUR TRIAL!

The 2nd weekend in July is here – and with it comes the running of South Australia’s most iconic motorcycle event, the 88th running of the 24 Hour Trial, which will be celebrating its 97th Anniversary with great naming rights sponsorship from Hardi!

HEADLINING THE WEEKEND’S ACTION!

24 HOUR TRIAL COMMITTEE                       HARDI 2021 24 HOUR TRIAL                         RELIABILITY

Saturday & Sunday, 10th & 11th of July! This year the event is returning to the traditional home at the Kapunda Harness Racing Club Complex, Kapunda.

First run in 1924, this year’s trial starts with the first machine leaving from the Kapunda Harness Racing Club Complex on Hancock Road at 11:00am on the 10th of July, and if all went well the first machine will return again at 11:00am on the 11th of July.

The weather will dictate a lot of the difficulties of the course, but whether wet or dry, it will be hard on both bike and rider (and passenger), and there is usually an attrition rate of at least 50%. The trial could not be run without massive support from many clubs, organisations and individuals, and the 24 Hour Trial Organising Committee thank them for their dedication to this great event.

Over 135 riders, as well as nearly 30 passengers will tackle 4 laps of the 200k course this weekend, with the Sidecars leading the way, with 2019 and reigning winners, Max & Sam Hutchesson leading the field away. Leading the Expert Solo field away will also be the 2019 & reigning Champion, Sean Throup, keeping in mind the event is returning after a year off in 2020 due to COVID-19.

The Hardi 24 Hour Trial is also round 4 of the 2021 South Australian Reliability Championships, so riders will be keen to ensure they cross the line on Sunday, to pick up valuable Championship points.

For all the details regarding this event, catering, spectator sections and heaps more, including the draw for the weekend, head to http://www.24hrtrial.com/ or check out their social media pages, Facebook & Instagram.

As well as the rugged men & women who ride the event, this has been and always will be as much a fun weekend for the spectators, as they watch their favourites from some of the best, most beautiful scenery in South Australia.

The 24 Hour Trial Organising Committee do ask spectators and all who attend to respect the land owner’s property, and to take your rubbish away with you please, to not camp on private property without permission and also to drive or ride carefully on the roads and not in any properties.

Also keep in mind that this event will run under all current COVID-19 requirements, so please QR Code when asked, adhere to all physical distancing requirements, and, if feeling unwell, please stay at home! Thank you!

THE JUNE LONG WEEKEND – MEANS A TRIP TO ’ROBBIE’ FOR A MUTTON & GRAVY ROLL – AND THE LEW JOB 2 DAY RELIABILITY TRIAL!

This June Long Weekend, Saturday & Sunday, the 12th & 13th, sees round 3 of the 2021 South Australian Reliability Trials Championships, the Velocette MCC’s Lew Job Reliability Trial – the Robbie 2-Day – being run, and as always, starting from the Robertstown Oval at Robertstown in the state’s mid north!

Just over 95 riders will tackle some of SA Reliability Trials most iconic sections this weekend, with Springhut Creek once again likely to be the highlight for most riders, and especially after missing the event in 2019, which had to be cancelled due to COVID-19! Leading the field out onto the course will be the sidecars, with the team of Hector Evans & Shaun Buckley first bike away!

The first bike will start at 1.01pm on Saturday and 9.01am on Sunday, with riders doing 2 laps each day of a course that should take them about 2 hours & 20 minutes!

To catch all the action – head to the Robertstown Oval and grab an egg & bacon sanga, a coffee and a programme, which will tell you all you need to know in regards to who is riding and where the best spots to catch the action are (spectator paddocks) – and then head back to the Oval to welcome home the riders at the end of their journey each day – and grab a lamb roll from the awesome catering the Robertstown community will have on site!

ENTRY TO ALL POINTS OF THIS EVENT IS FREE TO ALL SPECTATORS;

BUT REMEMBER TO QR CODE WHEN YOU ARRIVE – JUST TO BE SURE!!

The 2 main reasons riders head to ‘Robbie’ each and every year to ride the Velo’ MCC’s 2-Day Classic;

  • The 4 runs up Springhut Creek, regarded by many as ‘the’ competitive section of the year
  • The lamb & gravy rolls at ‘Robbie’ Oval, run by the local community and always a great feed!

So, come to Main Control in the morning, grab breakfast from the local community catering crew, then a program and directions to the spectator area and head out to watch some awesome action!

SART ROUND 1 HEADLINES ANOTHER BIG WEEKEND OF ACTION!

April 30, 2021 Filed Under: Coaches, Motocross, News, Reliability, SA Women in Motorcycling, SAMX Championship, Trials

SART ROUND 1 HEADLINES ANOTHER BIG WEEKEND OF ACTION!

This weekend, tomorrow in fact, sees the 7 round South Australian Reliability Trials Championship kick into gear with the traditional ‘season opener’, the Gawler MCC’s Philip Haydon Reliability Trial, taking place out from the Marrabel Rodeo Grounds, with the first bike due to leave at 1.01pm, for a 2 lap, 6 hour-ish journey around the region, and with the final timed section to take place at the Rodeo Grounds, there will be action a-plenty without having to leave Main Control!

Round 1 sees 135 entries received, which coming out of the COVID year of 2020 is a great recovery, with the 22 sidecar entries leading the field away. And it’s a high quality field as well for the Series opener, led by Adam Wright, Damien Jenke and the evergreen, Rowan Pumpa in the outright solo battle to join the Philip Haydon honour roll!

The sidecars are also high quality, with multiple 24 Hour Trial winners, Max & Sam Hutchesson, Mark Launer & Tyson Rohrlach, Shane ‘Crash’ Schiller (with Adrian Rohrlach) and Hector Evans (with Shaun Buckley) leading the way!

The event is being fully catered by an amazing team led by Janet Hazel, who is doing it as an awesome fundraiser for the Kapunda High School Foundation, which helps disadvantaged students, so get behind it and grab some great food for a great cause!

Live timing will also be available at this event, head to www.sartchampionship.com, and also grab an event program at Main Control to get the riders list and directions to the spectator areas!

And here is the official welcome from Aaron Seifert, the president of the Gawler Motorcycle Club;

On behalf of the Gawler Motorcycle Club, I would like to welcome everyone to the 43rd running of the Phillip Haydon Reliability trial. After 42 consecutive years of our trial, last year’s event had to be cancelled due to some crazy virus getting in the way. We have picked up from last year’s event by running out of the Marrabel Rodeo Grounds.

We are now living in a new normal so please log into our QR codes, observe COVID safe practice where possible and follow our spectator guidelines.

The SA Reliability Trials Championship series would not be possible without generous landowners allowing us the ride their paddocks. We would like to thank Peter Dorrington, Greg Hampel, Nathen Rowett, Colin Menadue, Brendon Teague, Mark, Tim and Tony Prior, Ian Williams, Harvey and Sheryl Murray, Jim McInerney, James Huppatz, Peter Shulz and Mark Newmaan, who are our generous landowners. Also, thanks to Nathen Rowett and Luke Shulz for their involvement in the stage at the rodeo grounds which will be a high light for the spectators come the final stage at night.

A special thank you to Janet Hazel and her crew in the canteen, 100% of the takings are going to the Kapunda High School Foundation helping disadvantaged students. We have three spectator viewing areas this year, two of which are out on course and the final is at the rodeo grounds. We ask that everybody respects the wishes of the landowners by only leaving footprints and take all rubbish with you. Please use gates as entry to the properties and DO NOT RETURN TO RIDE.

Our event would not be possible without our huge team of volunteers. So as a rider if you see someone working hard to make things happen for the event go up and thank them, it might just bring you some good luck. A HUGE THANK YOU goes to all involved in making this event a possibility.

The Clare & Gilbert Valley have generously allowed us to run an event with the use of their dirt roads so please respect all road rules and speed signs. We need to thank First Care for keeping us safe and ACRM for their ongoing support with event communications.

Have a safe and enjoyable ride and here is hoping you can make it to the finish line. After the event stay around and enjoy the warmth of the fire whilst enjoying our fine food and refreshments.

Cheers, Anton Seifert

Club President

The Hardi 2020 24 Hour Trial – entries close this coming Tuesday, the 11th of August – with this quick update from the 24 Hour Trial Chairman, Shane Diener;

What a year motorcycling and the 24 Hour has experienced so far! It was exciting to have secured Hardi as the major sponsor for 2020, bringing new ideas to the event. Additionally, we have secured several new sponsors to the event and attracted some previous sponsors back.

The committee have worked extremely well together and maintained positive progress during Covid restrictions, to ensure that the first weekend of September will be an amazing event. We’ve managed to secure 7 new sections for 2020, we will be able to ride another new section that was bypassed due to the wet conditions in 2016 and most importantly an old favourite returns after a long hiatus.

Light Council have been accommodating as we have ridden the waves of Covid restrictions, MSA have been supportive in providing the best opportunity to make the event work.

Come out on September 5 and 6 to support the 2020 Hardi 24 Hour Trial, support your friends, fellow competitors, remembering to adhere to Covid guidelines throughout the weekend. Make this an event to remember and provide some positives in this ever changing and testing year. Most importantly stay safe and have fun.

The Keep Ya Feet Up Trial – entries close for this trial, on Thursday, the 13th of August, being run by the Gawler MCC at Tungkillo on Sunday, the 16th of August.

KEYNETON MCC’S 60TH ANNUAL ROAD TRIAL CATERING @ KEYNETON OVAL, FROM 7.00am SATURDAY.

The Keyneton MCC is excited to announce that the Keyneton Progress Association will be catering for our Anniversary Trial, which will be a fundraiser for much needed maintenance and upgrades to the Keyneton Hall & Keyneton Park.

It will be their only fundraiser for the year – so please support – and with Gumshire supplying some of the eats – it’s bound to be top notch tucker!

THE MAX GRAETZ TRIAL, ROUND 2 OF TROY Series SA 2020 ON SUNDAY @ TUNGKILLO

Sunday will see the Trials SA community descend on Tungkillo in the Adelaide Hills and on the road to Palmer for the Max Graetz Trial, being run by the Gawler MCC.

Riders from 4 to +74 will be in action, including Australian Representatives and Champions, Connor Hogan, Lillie Yiatrou, Haydon Barwick and Hayden Eardley.

A field of nearly 50 riders and passengers will kick off at 9.00am, in what will be, the first running of this event since the passing of Max late last year, with the MSA Life member sure to be remembered and missed on the day.

Free entry for spectators, but bring a picnic lunch!

ALSO ON THE WEEKEND WILL BE A COUPLE OF RIDE DAYS ON SUNDAY FOR THOSE NOT LOOKING TO RACE, BUT STILL WANT TO THROW A LEG OVER.

Mac Park at Mount Gambier will host a track day for road racing, hosted by the Mt Gambier MCC, while ACUSA Park in the Adelaide Hills will have their 2nd Ride Day for 2020 from 10.00am.

Info for all of these events, and more, are available on the MSA website – check out the calendar and supp regs pages, as well as the ACUSA Park page as well!

All who attend these events are reminded that SOCIAL DISTANCING still applies – now 1 metre apart and 2 square metres around – so no grouping together – and remember to especially keep that bike length apart when is ques for food and drinks at events!
