MOTORCYCLING SA’s ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WRAP UP!

April 7, 2021 Filed Under: All disciplines, News

MOTORCYCLING SA’s ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WRAP UP!

Tuesday April 6th saw the Motorcycling SA Annual General Meeting take place, held at MSA Hall at Beulah Park, with President, Mr Brenton Matters chairing the meeting which started at 7.00pm.

It was great to see so many Clubs represented on the night, whether in person or online through Teams, easily reaching the required quorum, which saw Board members Paul ‘Rocky’ Warren and David Parker re-elected for a further 2 years onto the MSA Board.

Congratulations to Rocky and Dave on their re-elections, very well deserved, and what was also pleasing is that there were a total of 6 nominations for the 2 vacant positions. Great to see so many keen to get involved in the running of the sport at such a level.

So, with taking that into account, the Motorcycling SA Board of Directors for the next 12 months is;

Brenton Matters (President)

Rocky Warren (Vice-President)

David Parker

Tyler Hogan

Dominic Burman

Mike Hampton

We thank these people for their time and wish them well for the next 12 months.

DECLAN CARBERRY RIPS THE BITUMEN TO SET A NEW RECORD FOR THE EASTER CUP AT MOUNT GAMBIER!

DECLAN CARBERRY RIPS THE BITUMEN TO SET NEW RECORDS FOR THE EASTER CUP AT MOUNT GAMBIER!

Round 2 of the 2021 SA Championship, which also featured The Easter Cup

here is the race report from Declan Carberry, who set the track alight at Mount Gambier over Easter to become the youngest rider to have his name etched on The Easter Cup trophy. At 16 years of age, our 2018 MSA Rising Star is having a brilliant start to 2021, and a perfect 5 from 5 was the culmination of  the hard work he has put into his racing so far!

Here’s what he had to say about the weekend at Mac Park, where the Mount Gambier Club once again ran yet another high quality meeting, with some great racing as the SA Road Race Championship battles hot up!

Here’s what DJ220 had to say;

What an amazing weekend.

Friday was practice I ran the same Tyers I used for the whole 3 hour they had 70+ laps before I started the weekend. Dad changed the set up a little on the bike at home that week. Friday was the day to get used to the bike and changes made.

Everything was working well with the setup.

SATURDAY

Qualifying and race 1

In the first qualifying I went out to scrub in a new front and a 6 lap old rear tyre. I managed to set a lap of 1.11.3. This put me 1st for the 600cc’s and 1st for The Easter Cup. This made me the quickest bike for the first qualifying of all classes.

In qualifying 2 of Superbikes  Jamie Banks did a 1.11.2 on his GSX-R1000 and another rider did 1.11.2 so this placed me 3rd for The Easter Cup.

I then went out for my 2nd qualifying  to do 4 to 5 laps and see if I couldn’t do a quicker time than them. I pushed as hard as I could and did an 1.10.9 on my 4th lap. This was a new PB for me and it put me back on pole for The Easter Cup.

Race 1 was a 6 lap race. I got a ok start and got thought turn 1 in 1st position, then pushed for 4 laps till I got a big enough lead that I could maintain my gap to 2nd place. I took the chequered flag to take my first 600cc Supersport win.

SUNDAY

Races 2, 3 & 4 PLUS, The Easter Cup.

Races 2, 3 and 4 had great starts and tried to do the same as race 1 coming away with 3 more wins.

This giving me 4 from 4 wins in the 600cc Supersport.

By the time The Easter Cup race came around, I was getting nervous about it as I was the youngest person to put it on pole.

The 2nd quickest 600cc was in 12th.

On the start I was nervous as I had Jamie Banks next to me. The lights went out and him and I both had a great start.  Jamie just had  more legs to get in to turn 1 quicker Jamie had the inside line, I was right on him for the first 2 laps.

Turn 1 lap 3 I put it up the inside of Jamie and I didn’t believe I was in 1st. For the next 12 laps I pushed like crazy.

Jamie pushed me so hard I stayed in 1st but he kept the gap small.  The biggest it got was 3 seconds when we got caught up  in lapped traffic.

I came across the line and couldn’t believe I was now the youngest winner, and a 600cc, to have won The Easter Cup.

An awesome weekend where I was lucky enough to have won 5 from 5 races!

Thanks for your support.

EMMA MILESEVIC CROWNED ‘QUEEN’ OF THE GULF IN WINNING THE 2021 SA WOMEN’S CUP FOR MOTOCROSS!

April 7, 2021 Filed Under: Motocross, News, SA Women in Motorcycling

EMMA MILESEVIC CROWNED ‘QUEEN’ OF THE GULF IN WINNING THE 2021 SA WOMEN’S CUP!

Easter saw the annual trek to Port Pirie for the King of the Gulf motocross meeting that features the King and Prince of the Gulf, the Classic King of the Gulf, and, the SA Women’s Cup for motocross.

Now well into its second decade as a feature event over Easter, the 2021 SA Women’s Cup was once again supported by Pirie Office National and saw 14 riders front the starter – an entry list up from previous years which is great to see, with 14 also the new record for entries for the SA Women’s Cup for motocross – which is awesome for the future of the event and the sport here in SA, and to top it off, 6 junior girls also got in a hit out before round 1 of the 2021 SA Motocross Championships fires up at Gillman over the ANZAC weekend!

Like last year, the SA Motocross Championships will feature TWO (2) CLASSES for Junior Girls, 85cc 11-U16 and 125cc 2str / 250cc 4str 13-U16 Girls, as well as the Open Women’s Class as well. Entries are now open through your Ridernet profile, so get around it – SA Women’s Motocross is on the up and an exciting thing to be a part of in 2021!

But, we digress, back to the SA Women’s Cup for 2021 – and what the riders thought! Well, here is a selection of what the riders have put up on their socials since the event – and by the looks of the comments, it was event not to be missed – so if you did, best lock it in for 2022 – Easter at Pirie!

Congratulations to the hard working team at the Port Pirie Motorcycle Club for another job well done, and well done also, to the 200 strong field that rode the weekend in very warm conditions!

EMMA MILESEVIC

What a way to spend Easter!

Raced the King of the Gulf in Port Pirie and what a great event it was!

Was awesome to be back at Pirie for the king of the gulf! I competed in the women’s cup going 4-4-4-4, which I was pleased with considering the minimal bike time I have had this year

Really enjoyed being back at the races and was great to have a whole heap of my family and friends come and support me, especially my sister who made a humungous effort!

Massive thanks to everyone for making it possible

Wow that’s the SA woman’s cup completed in Port Pirie. To say I’m pretty tired and sore tonight is an understatement, I raced the woman’s then MX2 Clubman and then the Clubman All Powers Feature Race, so it worked out that I did roughly 44 laps today.

It was great to see 14 females there racing.

Pretty happy to finish 5th in the SA Women’s Cup considering the talent we had over here for it. In the MX2 Clubman I’m unsure where I finished up but it would have been in top 10.

In the feature race I finished 8th out of 16, I was very happy with this result considering the heat and how fatigued I was.

Have to say a huge thanks to all my team for getting behind me and making sure I was eating and drinking lots today in this heat.

King of the Gulf 2021 was a blast! Had heaps of fun racing at Port Pirie over the weekend.

On Sunday I raced MX2 Clubman and SA Women’s Cup.

Unfortunately, in race 2 of the Clubman I had a crashed and had to DNF the race, I was lucky to only come away with a few bruisers. Due to the crash I choose to only race the women’s class for the rest of the day.

Super stoked on how the Women’s Cup went, had some great battles with people all day and improved on lots of things.

SA Women’s Cup – 7th overall out of 14

Looking forward to round 1 of the 2021 SA Championships in a couple of weeks.

Massive thanks to everyone who supports me

Had an awesome day racing at Port Pirie on Sunday. Was far too hot but slowly starting to get the hang of riding and racing again. Ended up 8th for the day.

Can’t thank Mum, Dad & Brian enough for all they do for me so that I can go racing. Couldn’t do it without your support

SA Women’s Cup at Port Pirie on Sunday. Definitely not the best hit out, 9-10-10-11 for 11th overall

Not where I’d like to be and I didn’t measure up on the day. Back to the drawing board for the next region in a couple of weeks.

EMMA HAYLOCK

Had a good day Saturday at Port Pirie racing in the Juniors 125-250cc class. The track crew did an excellent job on watering the track all throughout the day so it didn’t get too dry.

I had great starts all day with some hole shots which was good. It was also good having some battles with the boys.

I came 6th in my class and 8th in the feature race which I was happy about.

BALANCE; LAUNCH; SPLAT!

TROY Series SA 2021 – ENTRIES OPEN FOR ROUND 1!

Entries have now opened for round 1 of TROY Series SA 2021, the Frank Tuck Trial at Victor Harbor on Sunday April 18th and being run by the AJS Moto Trial Club of SA.

Supp regs are available on the Motorcycling SA website and entries are through your Ridernet Profile.

This iconic property at Victor will once again play host to the opening round of TROY – and will likely feature the famous waterfall section, with great viewing from the top all the way down to the bottom – and although it looks unlikely, there is always the4 chance of Victor being a wet event, as it has been many times in the past!

The event will be preceded on the Saturday by a Coaching and Come & Try Day, running from 10.00am – 4.00pm, and with coaches on hand to help with any new riders, as well as those riders who need endorsements signed off!

Camping onsite for competitors and free entry to the venue for spectators – keeping in mind the physical distancing and density requirements for COVID-19, this will be another great start to the Trials SA season – especially as spectators will be watching Australian Champions and Australian representatives in action and up close!
