SA MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS, THE MIKE CONNORS RELIABILITY TRIAL AND MAX GRAETZ TRIAL HEADLINE A HUGE WEEKEND!

2020 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS, ROUND 1, TO HEADLINE A HUGE WEEKEND OF EVENTS!

The 2020 South Australian Motocross Championships kick off at Renmark this weekend with the Riverland JMC hosting, with 200+ riders entered for the weekend, which includes over 120 junior riders!

Juniors will ride on Saturday, with seniors to fire up on Sunday, with the Junior Lites also riding on Sunday.

The Riverland club will have the gates open and show good old ‘country hospitality’ with a full canteen open both days, and only a gold coin donation to get through the gate – with all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Racing will kick off at 9.00am both days, after practice from 8.00am.

Camping spots are available, as are showers (with a gold coin or 2 as well)!

With only 3 rounds in the 2020 Championship (thank you COVID-19) – the action is going to be hot from the first gate drop, so head up to the Riverland as SA’s finest motocross riders rip up the track for the first time in 2020!

WATCH OUT FOR THE GIRLS TO ROOST RENMARK THIS WEEKEND.

For the 2020 SAMX season, a third female’s only class was introduced into the racing program.

For round 1 at Riverland Junior Motorcycle club, there is the highest female numbers in the last few years. We have a total of 26 girls & women competing, from the demo class, to Women’s All Powers.

We have 11 girls competing in the 85cc 11-U16yrs class with new and returning riders. Many of the girls are also competing in the new 125cc-250cc 13-U16yrs class, with a total of 6.

The women’s class also hit a milestone with 9 women competing for the top spot on the podium.

We also have girls in our Non-Competitive class, and first-time racers in our 50cc Div. 2 class.

Thanks again to Butlers Mechanical Service and Titanium Security Australia for jumping on board once again to support our Women’s All Powers, 85cc 11-U16 years and 125cc/250cc13-U16 Years combined class for Girls Only.

KEYNETON MCC RUNNING THEIR DIAMOND JUBILEE, 60^TH ANNUAL ROAD TRIAL, THE MIKE CONNORS RELIABILITY TRIAL ON SATURDAY

The Keyneton MCC will run their reliability trial, the first of only 3 for the year, from the Keyneton Oval this Saturday, with the first of the 150+ strong field starting at 9.01am.

Riders, and passengers, will have a 2 lap journey of just over 3 hours per lap, which will have 7 off road sections, from 2 to 7 kms in length in the Menglers Hill, Keyneton and Eden Valley areas.

There will be 2 spectator friendly areas, with both only 5 kms from the start, with programmes and maps available from Main Control in the morning.

This is the 60^th running of the event, the longest running annual event in Keyneton Club history, with the start within a stone’s throw of the original start at the Keyneton General Store in 1961, which was across the road from the birthplace of the Club at the Temperance Hotel in 1950 – 70 short years ago.

KEYNETON MCC’S 60TH ANNUAL ROAD TRIAL CATERING @ KEYNETON OVAL, FROM 7.00am SATURDAY.

The Keyneton MCC is excited to announce that the Keyneton Progress Association will be catering for our Anniversary Trial, which will be a fundraiser for much needed maintenance and upgrades to the Keyneton Hall & Keyneton Park.

It will be their only fundraiser for the year – so please support – and with Gumshire supplying some of the eats – it’s bound to be top notch tucker!

THE MAX GRAETZ TRIAL, ROUND 2 OF TROY Series SA 2020 ON SUNDAY @ TUNGKILLO

Sunday will see the Trials SA community descend on Tungkillo in the Adelaide Hills and on the road to Palmer for the Max Graetz Trial, being run by the Gawler MCC.

Riders from 4 to +74 will be in action, including Australian Representatives and Champions, Connor Hogan, Lillie Yiatrou, Haydon Barwick and Hayden Eardley.

A field of nearly 50 riders and passengers will kick off at 9.00am, in what will be, the first running of this event since the passing of Max late last year, with the MSA Life member sure to be remembered and missed on the day.

Free entry for spectators, but bring a picnic lunch!

ALSO ON THE WEEKEND WILL BE A COUPLE OF RIDE DAYS ON SUNDAY FOR THOSE NOT LOOKING TO RACE, BUT STILL WANT TO THROW A LEG OVER.

Mac Park at Mount Gambier will host a track day for road racing, hosted by the Mt Gambier MCC, while ACUSA Park in the Adelaide Hills will have their 2^nd Ride Day for 2020 from 10.00am.

All who attend these events are reminded that SOCIAL DISTANCING still applies – now 1 metre apart and 2 square metres around – so no grouping together – and remember to especially keep that bike length apart when is ques for food and drinks at events!

EP MOTOCROSS SERIES, ROUND 2 AT KIMBA WAS HOT TO TROT!

KIMBA EP MOTOCROSS SERIES, ROUND 2 AT KIMBA WAS HOT TO TROT!

The EP motocross series headed to Kimba for round two of racing and riders were greeted with perfect racing conditions. With a huge amount of work put into the preparation of the track and facilities from the local Kimba Council and the local members the riders were very impressed.
The day started off cold and wet but the action out on track was fast and furious with some of the states best riders showing up for a pre state title hit out with super tight action in the City Motors first corner and the Pt Lincoln 4WD tabletop jump.

50cc 7-U9yrs was dominated by young Declan Smart and Kylan Miller with Riley Mullen in hot pursuit ever lap. Young Tao Letton pushed hard to take fourth place but just couldn’t match the other boys speed. The two Ellerington brothers also rode great races and are improving every time out on their bikes.
65cc 7-U9yrs had the same result with Declan out front and Kylan and Riley scrapping for the minor placings. These boys showed great skills and stamina to ride two classes all day on such different machines as one is an auto and the 65 a manual so great stuff boys.

65cc 10-U12yrs had Koby Miller out in the lead from Blake Phillips who was chasing as hard as possible but Koby was just too fast.

The girl’s class was mixed in with the boys and young Nicole Modystach was riding with great speed pushing Koby every race. Sari Letton was also in the mix, like she always is and first-time racer Danielle Churchette put in a great day’s ride.

85cc/150cc 9-U12yrs was won by Ian Ellis who rode three great races and Koby Miller showed great improvement on his 85cc bike. Third place went to young Caleb Churchett and Haden Frost took out fourth place with this being these two boys first ever race day.

85cc/150cc 12-U16yrs This was a great class of racing with the top five riders all dicing for the placings but Axle Dean in first and Jacob Knowles and Jaxon Simunovic taking the minor places. Local rider Brodee Zibell was in the fight and took out fourth placing and has made big improvements in his riding.

Junior Lights was a great class to watch with the future stars of our sport pushing each other every lap with young Jack Lienert taking the win. Liam Buckley and Banjo Lawrence took the minor placings with Seth Gregory and Liam Frost improving every lap. The boys showed excellent skills through the Kimba Transport whoops and jumping the AG Save step-up.

Veterans Class was a tough class with Adam Mclean taking the win from John Barnes and Clint Letton in pursuit every lap. With 250cc and 450cc mixed together there was lots of roost blasted onto the trailing bikes on the Lienert Contracting straight. One of the rides of the day went to Adam Delongville who never gave up no matter where he was placed.

250cc Clubman was won by Eric Brereton from Angelo Karoussis and Pearce Reichelt taking the minor placings with some great racing.

450cc Clubman was dominated by Luke Story winning all races from Luke Bizewski and Mark Phillips who had great battles every race.

Expert 250cc class had Kai Newbold out front with Zac Hoffrichter and Sam Tilbrook trying hard to keep pace. Kai was last years state champion and he showed why with amazing skills and speed in all parts of the track and even raced the 450cc class on the 250 and pushed the bigger bikes to the limits.

Expert 450cc had three of the best riders in the state and Kai put on an amazing show of MX racing skills. This class was bar to bar racing with the Kemp Constructions second corner a hot place to be off the start with all riders fighting for the front spot. Siegah Ward took the win from Mitch Norris and Joshua Tilbrook in third place but any of the riders could’ve won. Siegah took the rider of the day award for his consistent and clean racing on display.

A massive thanks must go out to all of the sponsors that donated all the prizes and the helpers on the day and weeks leading up to the event. To the local Ambulance crew and Kirsty for arranging the team to look after any injuries that might arise. The Kimba Council for your support of our amazing sport and welcoming our club to put on the event.

The Wild Wild West hope to see a huge field at Whyalla on September 20th for round 3, and round 4, to be held on October 23 at Port Lincoln.

The 2020 SA Motocross Championships is pleased to welcome Butler’s Mechanical Services from Port Augusta AND Titanium Security Australia as the sponsor for all of the women and girl’s classes for the 2020 South Australian Motocross Championships, Women’s All-powers, the 85cc 2st/150cc 4st 11-U16 Years and the 125cc/250cc 13-U16yrs Classes.

Butler’s Mechanical Services specialises in heavy machinery and the trucking industry, but as their logo states, no job is too big or too small and are ideally positioned at Port Augusta for all that are travelling across this great country of ours.

A family business, owned by Tracey & Ian, and with a direct link to the sport through their granddaughter, Aimee, are excited to be more involved with the sport and look forward to seeing their family business connected with what is, a family sport!

So, not only are they supporting the sport, being directly involved gives all the chance to catch up with them at all remaining rounds and thank them for their support of the 2020 Championships.

COMPETITION – IT’S SLOWLY GETTING BACK UP TO SPEED!

COMPETITION – IT’S SLOWLY GETTING BACK UP TO SPEED!

In the past couple of weeks, competition has slowly started to get back into gear – and over the next couple of weekends it starts to heat up even more!

It all kicked off with a round of the Tri-Series Enduro on July 5^th near Brownlow, with 93 total entries braving the extremely dry conditions (it is winter, right?) at the Keyneton MCC event, with the general chat being, we don’t care if it’s dry, we are just glad to be back racing!

Young gun, Nathan Howe, showed the senior field how to ride in the dust, with a 6 minute win over the returning Nick Throup after 2 ½ hours of chewing dust!

A week later, the Keyneton MCC went back to back when they kicked off the 2020 Trials SA season with their Keyneton 2 Day Trial, run as the 47^th Mountain Man Trial on Saturday and the Rockhopping SA 2020 SA Women’s Cup & Diener/Holmes Sidecar Trophy on the Sunday, with 41 total entries received – a bit down, but the Women’s Cup did miss its annual influx of riders from the east due to border restrictions!

Big winners there were Lillie Yiatrou in the SA Women’s Cup and Chris Schultz & Stuart Gerhardy in the Diener/Holmes.

This weekend it heats up even more – with rounds 1 & 2 of the 2020 South Australian Off Road Championship to take place around the township of Clare, with the senior Championship being supported by WSB Distributors and the junior Championship supported by Husqvarna and KTM.

To be held on property owned by the Mitchell family (with thanks) at Farrell Flat, the Clare MCC will run Saturday as a Cross Country, while Sunday will run as a Sprint for the 175 strong field

In the 175 entries, 67 are junior riders, spread over 5 classes for riders aged 8 years to 16 years, with some of South Australia’s brightest future stars to be in action – seriously worth the trip to Clare just to watch them.

In the seniors, defending SA#1, Riley Graham will have a gaggle of Youth (under 21) riders chasing him and his #1 plate, including the likes of Nathan Howe, Jayden Rudd, Charlie Milton, Jordan Simpson, Jaxon Raynor, Jay Simister and Max Price, along with the ‘old stagers’ like Sean & Nick Throup and Olly Simpson – so it’s a safe bet that the action on the track will be hot to trot!

Kick off both days from 8.00am, with catering also available each day, and free entry for spectators!

Over in the Wild Wild West this weekend (Sunday) will also be a round of the EP Series for Motocross, this time at the Kimba Motocross Track. Canteen available and camping allowed at the track.

It has been a while since there has been racing at Kimba and they are looking forward to having a good roll up of the motocross crew at Kimba – entries are still open through Ridernet!

While talking motocross, the Morgan MCC kick back into gear this weekend (Sunday) with their first Club round for the year – juniors, seniors, canteen and free entry for spectators!

AND – IT ONLY GETS HOTTER THE WEEK AFTER TO END JULY!

The final weekend of July 2020 is shaping up to be just as busy as this weekend will be, with the action to be just as hot!

Kicking off on Saturday 25^th will be one of only three reliability trials for 2020 – the Keyneton MCC’s 60^th Annual Road Trial, starting from the Keyneton Park (oval) at 9.00am. First run in 1961, the event is now known as the Mike Connors Reliability Trial, with an entry list for 2020 already nudging 150 starters!

Free entry for spectators and fully catered ALL DAY at Keyneton Oval by the Keyneton Progress Association, this will, arguably, be one of the events of the year – and the KMCC’s 3^rd event in 4 weeks!

Also on the weekend of July 25 & 26 will be the opening round of the three round 2020 South Australian Motocross Championships, to be run by the Riverland JMC at their Renmark track.

Juniors on Saturday and Seniors on Sunday, with entries still open until Tuesday July 21^st for the Championship opener for MX – enter through your Ridernet profile – and with only three rounds, as a rider, you won’t want to miss a round.

TROY Series SA 2020 round 2 (for Trial) will also run, on Sunday 26^th, at Tungkillo with the Gawler MCC’s Max Graetz Trial, kicking off from 9.00am – with entries open until Thursday 23^rd of July – through your Ridernet profile.

Riders aged 4 to +74 will be in action, including Australian representatives, Connor Hogan and Lillie Yiatrou, with free entry for spectators.

Also on next weekend will be a couple of ride days on Sunday for those not looking to race, but still want to throw a leg over.

MA’S LICENCE REACTIVATION TIMELINE & OPEN EVENT ENTRIES REACTIVATED!

MA’S LICENCE REACTIVATION TIMELINE

Dear Members,

With the May 24 announcement of Sport Australia’s Return to Sport Toolkit, Motorcycling Australia (MA) have outlined the following timeline for the reactivation of licence sales and a return to competitive activity.

June 15, 2020 – License sales will be reactivated to renew or apply for your license;
July 1, 2020 – Competition activity may resume on a state by state basis in compliance with state and national guidelines and regulations.

Considering the pandemic and the impact that it has had on the restriction of sporting activities, MA in consultation with the State Controlling Bodies (SCBs) is pleased to confirm an extension of active annual licenses for members affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. All annual licenses purchased in the period between April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020 will automatically receive a 3 month extension.

MA has considered numerous options to support annual license holders and believes this is the fairest outcome. Extensions for eligible licenses will added automatically prior to the reactivation of license sales on June 15.

We recommend members download the MA license app which will update with your license extension automatically.
