RESULTS – 2023 SAMX CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 2 – GATES DROP AT RIVERLAND JUNIOR MOTORCYCLE CLUB

May 26, 2023 Filed Under: Motocross, News, SAMX Championship

Conditions were prime and riders rearing to go, with the Riverland Junior Motorcycle Club rolling out the red carpet last weekend of the 20th and 21st May for Round 2 of the 2023 SAMX Championships. Spectators and fans all weekend long were kept on the edge of their seats with tight bar-to-bar racing taking centre stage. Round 2 brought a spectacular  lineup of 247 riders entered, with a massive 303 bikes competing over the two days. That’s right 56 riders couldn’t get enough and hit the track in multiple classes. With weather and track conditions as good as they were…who can blame them!!

After his round 1, third-place Pro-MX1 finish, Brett Metcalf took control and made the weekend a clean sweep of firsts ahead of Siegah Ward and Levi McManus. – Well done champ!!

Mitchell Norris fought hard all weekend in MX 2 to take a well deserved top step finish within extremely fast competition. Giving the girls a run for their money in sheer speed and style, Amy Bartsch pulled together a consistent weekend in taking a clean sweep of firsts in the Women’s All Powers class with Emma Haylock and Stephanie Cutler battling it out for the second and third.

Eric McConnochie caught all the action over the weekend. See all the photos – HERE

Below are the top 10 placings for each class after the weekend’s dust has settled:

PRESS RELEASE – SAMX KICKS OFF FOR A MASSIVE 2023

May 2, 2023 Filed Under: Motocross, News, SAMX Championship

The dreary weather couldn’t hold off the fast-paced racing action heating up on the track, as SAMX Round 1 kicked off over the weekend of 29th and 30th April 2023. Motocross Riders Association hosted the packed event at the Gillman MX track and boy did they put on a great show. With work well underway for  the upcoming Round 5 of the PROMX on the 28th of April, MRA wanted to ensure this was a perfect preview into the exceptional racing ahead.

From the get-go, entries were strong and in the end, we had the pleasure of seeing 257 riders start their Championship series battle over the weekend with 12 future stars of our sport also, getting out in front of the crowds to ride the 50cc Demo 4 class. With racing for round 1 being this tight, we can only imagine the points battles in store for us ahead. So far we have seen old champions return and go head to head with new points leaders and potential 2023 champions stepping up.

2023 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN OFF ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS – DATE CHANGES!

May 1, 2023 Filed Under: Enduro, Motocross, News, Reliability, SA Women in Motorcycling, SAORC, State Championship

Due to many reasons, and mainly due to Enduro not having a Sports Manager at present to coordinate the Championships or the discipline, with Wes Haydon no longer available to do it, as well as things like land availability, once again there have had to be date changes to the 2023 SA Off Road Championships, with the 2023 Championship now looking as per the rounds listed below.

Over the next week as it gets close to entries opening for rounds 1 and 2, MSA will release the 2023 Championship sponsors, as well as the supplementary regulations for the 2023 Championship.

Motorcycling South Australia would specifically like to thank the organising clubs for making the 2023 Championship possible, as all had originally decided to have a year off to recharge their members, but when it seriously looked like there wouldn’t be a Championship in 2023, all decided that they would put up their hands to make it happen.

The Keyneton MCC are now running back to back AORC rounds, after running a round in 2022, as the final 2 rounds of SAORC will also be rounds 7 & 8 of the 2023 AORC, and along with Keith & Districts, will also be opening up some new land to the Championship in 2023, while Juventus will be heading out of the forest for the first time in many years, to the Adelaide Hills and ACUSA Park.

February 27, 2023 Filed Under: Motocross, News, SA Women in Motorcycling

Entries have been extended until this Friday – March 3 for the inaugural Yeah The Girls #1 All Female Motocross Event at the South Coast MXC’s track at Monarto.

50 entries have already been received for the Yeah The Girls #1 All Female Motocross Event – but South Coast MXC and the organisers are looking for at least 20-25 more and get will into the 70s in number – and don’t forget, there are competitive and non-competitive classes for all!

And with the non-competitive event, you don’t need a licence – just a Ridernet profile to enter – and here are the event names to look out for to get your entry in!

COMPETITIVE; Yeah The Girls #1 All Female Motocross Event – the racing

NON-COMPETITIVE; Yeah The Girls #1 All Female Motocross Event – C Grade & Novice Riders Only

And it’s going to be a high quality day, with the following just some of SA’s female talent who have already put an entry in – so if you are new to the sport, come and have a non-competitive ride and then watch the ‘guns’ get out and rip up the track!
