ENTRIES FOR ROUNDS 1 & 2 OPENING

RESULTS AND REPORT – 2023 bLU cRU SA JUNIOR CUP ROUND 2 RECAP BY XAYVION AMOY

June 9, 2023 Filed Under: News, Road Racing, SA Junior Cup

Last weekend in between some questionable weather from every season, Levis MCC hosted Round 2 of the 2023 bLU cRU SA Junior Cup at the Go Kart Club of SA in Monarto.

Sitting second in the 2023 bLU cRU Junior Cup standings, Xayvion Amoy was keen to take on every opportunity to continue his points standing for the year and with the stiff competition in packed fields, racing both bLU cRU SA Junior Cup and Junior 11-U16, he was set for a big weekend on the bikes.

Xayvion shared his race report for the weekend –

Saturday:

First up was practice which I was pretty stoked about considering Dad said that there was no practice, but there was! During practice, it was about getting into the groove and getting warmed up. I felt like I had a pretty good practice weekend at Monarto at the start of the year so I was feeling good. I immediately compared the practice weekend and the first practice session, I could 110% feel the difference out of the corners thanks to Lee’s Spot on Motorcycles after they tuned up my bike, it felt so good! Runs like butter. The only trouble I was having in practice was braking, I’m not really feeling it with those brakes on my junior bike but I managed to get over it and pushed those braking markers back. In bLU cRU I felt amazing! The braking on those bikes feels really nice which is a bit funny considering all the other boys don’t really like their bLU cRU brakes. But I felt good so I’m happy. By the last practice session in bLU cRU I felt really good, it was like I just rode the track the day before. In qualifying I went really good on my junior bike, I was feeling quick and got my times up there, I ended up qualifying 3rd which I was happy about. In bLU cRU I was still feeling good and felt quick. I was pushing it but man those other boys were confident especially Lucas Warren #995 Racing , he was like a jack-in-a-box. He just pounced out of nowhere and was riding crazy good, great work dude! In bLU cRU I ended up qualifying 6th, which was a bit disappointing but I was determined to get those starts on point.

Sunday:

It was race day, I was pretty pumped and confident to got those starts. First off was juniors and because the kart starting grids are side by side and directly behind I found it pretty awkward. I came up with a strategy and it worked! Threaded the needle between Lucas and Jai, got that start perfect for an amazing whole shot into first position, I kept that first place for the first few laps then Lucas made a dive on me, I was still very happy with second so I just focused on defending (Lucas absolutely gapped me). In bLU cRU I got a good start from sixth, I didn’t really get that first corner on point but I managed to keep that sixth and in a few other bLU cRU races I managed to get some fifths. Overall I did better in the junior 160cc class and managed to leave with a 2nd place trophy.

Just wanted to mention OH MY GOODNESS JAI, THAT SAVE WAS CRAZY!!! YOUR FRONT END WAS PRETTY WELL LOCKED UP, THE BIKE WAS UPRIGHT BUT YOU STILL HAD YOUR KNEE ON THE FLOOR, THAT WAS INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Tailem Bend Motorsport Accommodation for the overnight stay. Thanks to Willy Strugnell for sharing pits and generators and thanks to Kym, Allan, Chris and Andy for all the bLU cRU support. A great weekend by Levis MCC at The Go Kart Club of SA .

As always a huge thank you goes out to our 2023  bLU cRU SA Junior Cup sponsors :

THE JUNE LONG WEEKEND – ‘ROBBIE’ GETS COOKING FOR THE LEW JOB 2 DAY RELIABILITY TRIAL & OF COURSE MUTTON & GRAVY ROLLS!

June 8, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability

THE JUNE LONG WEEKEND – MEANS A TRIP TO ’ROBBIE’ FOR A MUTTON & GRAVY ROLL – AND THE LEW JOB 2 DAY RELIABILITY TRIAL!

It’s finally here for another year, this June Long Weekend, Saturday & Sunday, the 10th & 11th, sees round 3 of the 2023 South Australian Reliability Trials Championships continue the story for 2023. There’s no better place to be with riders set to take on some of SA Reliability Trials most iconic sections this weekend and best of all as always.. free entry for spectators!!

Entry List:

Leading the charge out to kick off the weekend will be Ian Kakoschke kicking off the weekend, followed by a stacked field of 105 riders. Rowan Pumpa is back after his Round 2 Expert Solo second place finish, with his sights firmly set on that top spot ahead of the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing sidecar duo Bradley Manuel / Ashley Ball continue their 2023 championship campaign with another top 3 (or even first place finish) but with a strong field of 20 Expert sidecars entered it’s really anyone’s race.

Kristy Schultz will be teaming up with  Stuart Gerhardy to continue her winning streak in Sidecar Ladies All Powers but they will have stiff competition with teams Caroline Wilksch / Natasha Sky and Elouise Dohse / Tianna Dohse hot on their heels.

Check out the full entry list – HERE.

Where:

Continuing the tradition as always the Lew Job Reliability Trial – the Robbie 2-Day – will be starting from the Robertstown Oval at Robertstown in the state’s mid north! (Google maps here).

With a huge long weekend ahead, riders and spectators are in for a treat. The course is approx. 85km and approx 3 hrs per lap and will cover a variety of terrain, Saturday will be 2 laps with day and night riding, and Sunday will be 2 laps daylight riding only. The classes will be in order of Clubman solo, Expert solo, Expert s/car, Clubman s/car.

Of course the 2 main reasons riders head to ‘Robbie’ each and every year to ride the Velocette MCC’s 2-Day Classic;

  • The 4 runs up Misery Creek that will keep riders on their toes and testing abilities.
  • The Mutton & gravy rolls at ‘Robbie’ Oval, run by the local community and always a great feed!

When:

Giving everyone a bit of a chance for a sneaky sleep in before getting their spectator spot, the first rider will leave main control at 1.01 pm on Saturday. For competitors there will be a compulsory briefing on Saturday at approx. at 12.15 pm. The first rider will leave main control at 9.01am on Sunday.

Catering and Camping:

Come along, support and enjoy the local hospitality and atmosphere, full catering and licensed facilities will be available all weekend thanks to the volunteers from the Southern Saints football and social club. Camping for the weekend is welcomed & encouraged anywhere within the football oval grounds, toilet facilities available.

RESULTS – ROUND 2, 2023 SART CHAMPIONSHIP

May 29, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability

Round 2 of the 2023 SA Reliability Trials Championships – Mike Connors Trial came to  Keyneton last Saturday 27th May, presented by the Keyneton MCC to continue this year’s Championship story. With 160 riders taking on a course of 2 laps, with around  6-8 hours of riding time, there was no shortage of excitement felt in control as riders set off for the long day ahead of them in some pretty drizzly conditions.

Keyneton Progress Association kept spectators, riders and teammates all well-fed from the get-go, right through to the finish and the Keyneton MCC made sure thirsts were quenched and rain wouldn’t stop the festivities, with their bar running throughout the afternoon. The course had a bit of everything, including a fair bit of deep bull dust, that even the annoying rain couldn’t keep down.

Max Price has a great day in the saddle for Open Solo, finishing up in the top spot with Rowan Pumpa chasing hard to reel him in. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to catch up, settling for second with just 23 seconds behind Max. Adam West rounded out the Open Solo top 3 with a consistent ride, sitting 152 seconds off first place.

Open Sidecar was taken out by Shane Schiller / Brian Anthony, after a cracking day of riding and locking in a time that would put them 30th outright for this round. Even with that time, Max Hutchesson / Sam Hutchesson kept Schiller and Anthony under pressure, finishing just 11 seconds back in second place with Bradley Manuel / Ashley Ball finishing another 11 seconds back in third.

Round 3 of the 2023 SART Championship heads off to Robertstown on June 10th and 11th for the Lew Job 2-Day Trial. This massive weekend is certainly one not to be missed with riders facing all the challenges over a 6 hr day/night format on Saturday and 6 hr daylight trial on Sunday.

Provisional open solo and sidecar results are below, with details and results by class available on the SART website here. (Note these results are provisional for 7 days for competitors to review, the results will be published as final on the Round Results page from Midnight Saturday June 3rd 2023).

RESULTS – 2023 SAMX CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 2 – GATES DROP AT RIVERLAND JUNIOR MOTORCYCLE CLUB

May 26, 2023 Filed Under: Motocross, News, SAMX Championship

Conditions were prime and riders rearing to go, with the Riverland Junior Motorcycle Club rolling out the red carpet last weekend of the 20th and 21st May for Round 2 of the 2023 SAMX Championships. Spectators and fans all weekend long were kept on the edge of their seats with tight bar-to-bar racing taking centre stage. Round 2 brought a spectacular  lineup of 247 riders entered, with a massive 303 bikes competing over the two days. That’s right 56 riders couldn’t get enough and hit the track in multiple classes. With weather and track conditions as good as they were…who can blame them!!

After his round 1, third-place Pro-MX1 finish, Brett Metcalf took control and made the weekend a clean sweep of firsts ahead of Siegah Ward and Levi McManus. – Well done champ!!

Mitchell Norris fought hard all weekend in MX 2 to take a well deserved top step finish within extremely fast competition. Giving the girls a run for their money in sheer speed and style, Amy Bartsch pulled together a consistent weekend in taking a clean sweep of firsts in the Women’s All Powers class with Emma Haylock and Stephanie Cutler battling it out for the second and third.

Eric McConnochie caught all the action over the weekend. See all the photos – HERE

Below are the top 10 placings for each class after the weekend’s dust has settled:

EVENT PREVIEW – 2023 MIKE CONNORS TRIAL LIGHTS UP KEYNETON

May 26, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability

Hosted by the Keyneton MCC the 2023 SA Reliability Trials Championship story continues into the Barossa district for the Mike Connors Trial this coming Saturday 27th of May 2023. It’s certainly looking to be a huge day ahead with entries hitting a maximum capacity of 191 riders and closing earlier than expected. It’s fantastic to see the sport returning to its former strengths after Covid, with racers from all of SA and wider Australia rearing to take to the track again.

The Mike Connors Trial will be testing riders with a daytime format of 2 laps and approximately 6-8 hours of riding, over what is looking to be an absolutely fantastic track. Work has been well underway to ensure there is something for everyone, including a weekend for all families young and old, to take in all the action. There have already been exceptional amounts of work undertaken to mark a fantastic course ahead of the weekend.

With hunger always kicking in early, the Keyneton Progress Association will be taking care of spectators, volunteers and riders by providing catering all day from 7:30 am, right through to the final rider finishing around 5:30 pm. To make sure thursts are quenched for adults during the action, a fully stocked bar is available from mid-afternoon presented by the Keyneton MCC. Make sure you bring cash though as there is only cash accepted at the bar.

Entry List

Selling out before the closing date with a strong list of competitors lining up to continue their 2023 SART Championship story, Keyneton is going to be the place to be this weekend.

Jayden Rudd is lined up with sights set on taking back the lead off Rowan Pumpa in A Class after narrowly missing out by 1 second due to some challenges in the final stage of Round 1.

Looking in red hot form after their  Expert Sidecar win and 13th outright finish from round 1, the A team duo, Shane Schiller / Brian Anthony are back and surely keen continue their winning run. Can they break into the top 10 outright finishers results for this round?? – Only time will tell!!

(Above: Chris Paunola piloting with Alex Turner asking the big question, “are you coming to watch?”)
