NEWS – SA RIDERS AT ASBK ROUND 3

April 29, 2022 Filed Under: News, Road Racing

We’re stoked to see some great results from the SA riders at Round 3 of the ASBK, run at Wakefield Park this past weekend!

#80 Cameron Rende scored 51 total points over the weekend in the bLUcRU Oceania Cup, including one 3rd place finish – an absolutely fantastic effort from Cam after a collision and subsequent crash on the Friday. Cam currently sits in 3rd place for the championship. Well done Cameron!

#51 Sam Pezzetta is sitting in 6th overall for the Yamaha Finance R3 Cup championship after adding 34 points to his total, and 7th overall in the Dunlop Supersport 300 class. A solid effort from Samuel.

#57 Cooper Rowntree had a successful weekend across the two classes as well, consistently improving his times over the weekend and getting down into the 1:06’s by Sunday, and a highlight of two 12th places in the R3 Cup. Great job Coop!

#61 Arthur Sissis had 6th place wins in both Alpinestars Superbikes races, leaving him 7th in championship placings at present with #25 Daniel Falzon not far behind in 9th.

#85 Ty Lynch gave a standout performance and was hot on the heels of John Lytras all weekend with 2nd and 3rd place wins in Michelin Supersport, and currently sits 2nd in the championship on 100 points.

#86 Dallas Skeer’s weekend didn’t go to plan, with multiple mechanical issues halting his racing and so sadly not picking up any points for the round.

#220 Declan Carberry competed for the first time in Michelin Supersport, and despite also facing some bike issues during practice and a crash during qualifying which left him sore, took 9th overall for the round. Great effort Declan, I know there were many eyes on you at home across the weekend and we can’t wait to watch your growth in the series.

#23 Jordy Simpson picked up 23 round points in Supersport 300 and 21 in the R3 cup, his best round performances so far this year.
Brother #45 Olly Simpson had an unfortunate end to his weekend after a late crash in practice which left him unable to compete, and has taken him from the championship lead in Supersport down to 7th place.
Round 4 will take place at Hidden Valley in June for Superbikes only, with all classes re-joining for Round 5 at Morgan Park Raceway, QLD from 5-7 August.

(Our thanks to our friends at Cafnix for the roundup!)

NEWS – ENTRIES FOR SAMX CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 2 ARE NOW OPEN

April 28, 2022 Filed Under: Motocross, News

Entries for Eagle Trailers, Campers & Caravans 2022 South Australian Motocross Championship, presented by AMX Superstores – Round 2 are now open!

A reminder that entries for round 2 of the Eagle Trailers, Campers & Caravans 2022 South Australian Motocross Championship, presented by AMX Superstores, are NOW OPEN, and will close Monday, May 16th at 10.30pm.

If you want to avoid the late free, get those entries in, but if you are keen to give the organising Club and extra $50.00, late entries will remain open until 11.30am Wednesday – after which NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED! Ringing the Club on Thursday and saying “I forgot” is now no longer a valid excuse, especially when entries for each round are open for 4 weeks before each round. You have been duly warned!

ROUND VENUE ENTRIES OPEN ENTRIES CLOSE LATE ENTRIES CLOSE
1 Gillman Wed 30th March Monday 18th April Wednesday 20th April
2 Riverland Friday 22nd April Monday 16th May Wednesday 198h May
3 Port Pirie Friday 17th June Monday 11th July Wednesday 13th July
4 Keith Friday 29th July Monday 22nd August Wednesday 24th August

With basically a ‘brand new’ layout at the Renmark venue (yes, aware it was done last year, but with COVID and everything, it has hardly had any use), the racing is sure to be as good as round 1, so get those entries in and pack the swag for another great round of racing!

REPORT – DECLAN CARBERRY SHARES HIS REPORT FROM THE 2022 SA ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP R1

April 21, 2022 Filed Under: News, Road Racing

Well, where do I start. What an amazing weekend.

Friday practice, I had a good couple of sessions before the weather came in and started raining. I sat a couple sessions out and waited for the weather to dry the track then went back out and had some fun laps.

Saturday morning was qualifying. Qualifying 1 was little bit cold but I went out and pushed hard. I put it on pole and was happy with my times. Qualifying 2, Ty and Dallas just bettered me with their times so i ended up third on the grid. Still front row so I was happy. The 3 of us on 600’s did better times than the Superbikes qualifying, so we had the front row for the Easter Cup feature race.

3 races before my first race there was an incident in the Superbikes, it was a big one and things had to be held up for some time with medical assistance. The officials called the day off as there was no medical available as they were looking after the injured riders which I thought was the right call.

Sunday, we had our 3 state races and the feature race. Race 1, I had a cracker start. I just got picked off into turn one by Ty and was in second. I stayed there for most of the race. On the last lap I came out of the double right on to the straight and the bike spun up so I lost my drive on to the straight. This allowed Dallas at the end of the straight to overtake me. It was a great race. Race 2 was patchy; it was wet in spots and dry in others. I did the best I could in the conditions. I finished in 3rd but due to something that had happened which I was not aware of, I was given 2nd. Race 3 was a wet race. I got a great start and was in second behind Ty. I stayed in second for the whole race. This gave me second overall for the State Title races and I was so happy.

To finish off the weekend I had the 10 lap Easter cup feature race. It was wet and raining steadily. I had one of the best starts I could get in the wet from 3rd on the grid, and was first into turn one. I had a moment coming out of turn 3 getting on the throttle to hard and to quick but kept cool and my head down, pushing to go as fast as I could in the rain to get away from the Superbikes. I could see I was getting a bigger and bigger lead every time I came past Dad and Wade with the pit board. They were giving me the gap back to second place and a countdown of the laps. It was in the last few laps I could start to get into a comfortable rhythm. I came across the line with a 16 seconds gap to 2nd, so I did a nice one-handed wheelie across the finish line.

I can’t thank my parents, family, the Sweets and Tayla for the great weekend and helping me always keeping it fun.

Bikes are back in the van ready to head to Wakefield Park for Rnd 3 of the ASBK! Thank you for your support

Cheers, DJ220
