TROY Series SA 2019 – ROUND 2 @ TUNGKILLO THIS SUNDAY

July 26, 2019 Filed Under: News, Trials

TROY Series SA 2019 – ROUND 2 @ TUNGKILLO THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday at Tungkillo – on the road to Palmer – will see the Gawler MCC run round 2 of the TROY Series SA for Trial, with action kicking off at about 9.30 in the morning, and with free entry for spectators.

This is the last hitout for SA’s finest trial exponents before they prepare for the Trialsport & Global Racing Oil 2019 SA Trial Championships at the Southern Flinders ‘Trials Mecca’, Mungeree, in 3 weeks time. (Entries are open for the Championships through www.trialsport.com.au/entries).

Sunday will feature almost all of SA’s finest junior trial riders, many of which will be heading to the Australian Championships in Tasmania in October, and include 2 time Australian Junior Champion, Haydon Barwick, 2018 Australian Champion, Hayden Eardley, MSA Rising Star nominee Alex Cowan and current Australia #2 Junior Woman, Charlotte Cowan.

Also riding this weekend, and fresh from getting off the plane from France where they rode the French GP round of the WTC, will be SA’s 2 riders competing in the 2019 World Trial Championship, Connor Hogan and Lillie Yiatrou – and who will also be representing Australia later this year at the Trials des Nations.

Also in action will be 2 of the best sidecar teams that Australia has to offer – seriously need to witness in person what these teams can do on 2 wheels – with Australian Champions Steve Rees & Melissa Rogers facing off against Chris Schultz & Stu Gerhardy – seriously, worth the drive just to watch these 2 sidecar teams!

Unfortunately there is no catering this weekend, but free entry, bring a packed lunch and watch some great trials action from the shade of a gum tree!

But – on hand will be Greg Knight, from Rockhopping SA – so if you are looking for any bikes for sale and/or what to by the kids to start riding trials, Greg is the man to talk to – just look for his trailer with the GRO flag lying high!

PENULTIMATE ROUNDS OF THE 2019 SAORC – THIS WEEKEND AT KEITH

July 25, 2019 Filed Under: Enduro, News, SAORC, State Championship

PENULTIMATE ROUNDS OF THE 2019 SAORC – THIS WEEKEND AT KEITH

This weekend sees the reigning MSA Club of the Year host rounds 4 & 5 of the 2019 SAORC, supported by partners WSB Distributers, KTM & Husqvarna, with this being the penultimate rounds of the 2019 Championship. The final rounds will be held at Coonalpyn on August 31 & September 1, which will also be rounds 8 & 9 of the 2019 Australian Off Road Championship, with entries for this round opening next Monday, the day after these rounds!

With this weekend being hosted by the Keith & Districts MCC, it is great that a number of the South East’s talented riders will be in action this weekend, with the following members of the host club throwing a leg over;

Seniors

Jayden Pilgrim               Pro Open Class

Jaxon Rayner                 C1 Clubman class

Jordan Rayner               C3 Clubman Class

Juniors

Archer Colwill                J1 Junior Class

Davey Gear           J1 Junior Class

Ollie Gear             JJ Junior Class

Mitch Goldsmith  JJ Junior Class

Jaxon Rayner currently sits 4th in C1, and after missing out on points at round 1 is chasing down the leaders, led by Olly Simpson,  to get back into a podium position, while Jordan & Jayden will be riding their first rounds of 2019 this weekend.

In the Juniors, Davey Gear is in a big battle with Lachlan Metcalf in the J1 Class, with Lachlan holding a 3 point lead over the Keith member, with Archer Colwill sitting in 8th after missing round 1, while Davey’s younger brother, Oliie, currently leads the JJ Class, with 3 round wins from 3 starts so far, with Mitch about to have his first ride this weekend.

Good luck to these members of the Keith & Districts MCC, a club that runs events at SA Championship level in more than one discipline, enduro and motocross, as they also have their great motocross venue, Andy Caldecott Park, so if you are keen to ride or race and live in the central areas of the South East of SA, Keith may be the club for you.

In the premier classes, Pro & Outright Senior – it’s a case of the youngsters chasing the ‘older’ hands, with Cooper Sheidow (3rd), Will Price (4th) and Nathan Howe (5th) chasing Riley Graham (currently 1st) and defending Champ, Andy Wilksch (2nd), with the 3 younger guys currently ripping it up in the EJ Class in the AORC as well!

In the J4 Class for juniors, the battle to become the SA#1 junior for 2019 is still well up in the air, with Samuel Pretscherer currently holding Zak Crafter, Mitchell Stanway and Alex Kreig at bay, with Charlie Milton on the charge after not scoring any points at round 1 and looking to make up lost ground!

For a look at all the points’ tables for all classes, junior & senior, follow the link and check them out!

ROUND 3 OF THE 2019 SAMX CHAMPS – THE WINDY WEST WAS WORTH THE TRIP!

July 22, 2019 Filed Under: Motocross, News, SAMX Championship

The weekend just gone saw round 3 of the Eagle Trailers & Campers 2019 SA Motocross Championships held at the Ceduna track by the West Coast Motorcycle Club – one of our most remote clubs, any further west and you’d be in WA – and did they lay out the welcome mat for one & all!

So, what did everyone think? – well, here is just a few of the comments found on social media in the past 24 hours;

Although Saturday was just a bit windy, the racing on the track was hot all weekend, and the Saturday night dinner at the track was one that bought the discipline together as a community – and well done to all of the West Coast crew for a job well done – that roast dinner was worth the drive west on its own!

Results for round 3 can be found here; www.speedhive.mylaps.com/Events/1696173, with Championship points to be updated in the coming days!

There were many happy faces at racing’s end – as you can see from these awesome juniors below, so look out now for the final round – racing is going to be hot to watch!

Entries for round 4, the final round of the Eagle Campers & Trailers 2019 SA Motocross Championships, at the South Coast MXC venue at Minarto, will open on Tuesday, July 23rd – tomorrow!

And again – well done to all of the West Coast MCC members – certainly a job well done!

AORC UPDATE AFTER ROUNDS 5 & 6

AORC UPDATE AFTER ROUNDS 5 & 6

Our South Aussie crew had another great round of the 2019 AORC, this time at Kyogle in NSW for rounds 5 & 6.

2 South Aussies stepped onto the podium; Cooper Sheidow in the EJ Class in Round 5 (Saturday) scored an excellent 2nd and Peter Rudd came home 3rd in the Masters Class in Round 6 (Sunday), with a heap of other top 10 finishes being scored by our riders.

Above; Cooper Sheidow

Well done to our SA team who are driving the many miles to ride in the 2019 AORC – check out the AORC website for updated point scores in the next few days; www.aorc.org.au/results, with Cooper & Pete, along with Max Leibeknecht all in striking distance of a podium finish in the 2019 Australian Off Road Championship.

Now there is only 1 more round, at Broken Hill on August 10 & 11, before the AORC descends on Coonalpyn here in SA for rounds 8 & 9 on August 31 & September 1st.

The Gawler MCC crew are already well into planning and preparing the venue for the AORC rounds, and as at al rounds, it will worth the drive to ride, or just spectate, as the best off road riders in the country come to SA.

Venue opens from 10.00am Friday, with camping available onsite, and the event will be fully catered all weekend and have some excellent spectator spots, and all with relatively easy access for all.

Entries for these rounds, which are the penultimate rounds of the AORC, and also the final rounds of the 2019 SAORC will open next Monday, the 29th of July – straight after the SAORC rounds at Keith.

INTERNATIONAL SA RIDERS WRAP! (20/21 JULY)

July 22, 2019 Filed Under: Motocross, News, Road Racing, Trials

INTERNATIONAL SA RIDERS WRAP!

A quick look at how some of our International riders fared over the weekend, with some mixed results and many miles traveled! Well done to all for taking your sport to the next level and taking up the international challenge – never an easy thing to do when Australia is so far away from the majority of the action!

If any South Aussie riders are taking up the International challenge and want to let everyone know what you are up to – email your efforts to projects@motorcyclingsa.org.au and include, where, when, results & a pic or 2, and the MSA staff will be more than happy to shout your results from the roof top!

Levi Day

British Superstock Championship;

P7 in today’s race at Snetterton in Superstock 1000! Happy with that result, we kept chipping away all weekend and from where we were on Friday to today’s race was a big step forward.

Huge thanks to my team IN Competition Aprilia for giving me an awesome RSV4 to ride. And to my sponsor AJN Steelstock, was great to have 22 guests from AJN and their customers there today being a part of it all! And to all the people that make it possible to do this and support me.

Thruxton up next in two weeks!

Brian Anthony

British Sidecarcross Championships, passengering for Gary Moulds;

From Gary’s team; “So, this weekend the team are in Deanmoor Cumbria. After the enforced break in riding the last few weeks with Steve’s injury we welcome Brian Anthony into our team to ride the 3rd Round of the British Sidecarcross championship. It’s great that we have Brian on as the guy has so much enthusiasm for racing, it’s also great that Steve is here with us to help and support both Gary & Brian.

We’d like to thank Jesper Rasmussen and the Danish Federation for providing Brian with the necessary licence and start permission to take part this weekend.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings, no expectations other to enjoy ourselves and hopefully score a few points.

A great weekend was had, and after qualifying 3rd at Deanmoor, good racing and well deserved results Gary and Brian got 3 X 3rd places in only their first time out together hope this is the last of Gary’s problems for this year.”

Brian, Lara & kids are now back on the continent and heading to Latvia for their next event – traveling and living the dream indeed Team Anthony!

Connor Hogan (#218)

Trial2 World Championship, Auron France;

Tough day at the office for Connor, finishing 27th in the Trial2 class at round 7, the final round of the Championship in Auron France over the weekend.

It’s been a tough season for Connor, and after 5 straight weeks away from home, it’s a fair bet that he is looking forward to coming home tomorrow, but still a super effort from him in 2019, with just the Trials des Nations to end his International year and a target to get Team Australia back onto the International Class podium, like in 2017.

Lillie Yiatrou

Trial2 Women’s World Cup, Auron France;

Round 2 of the Trial2 Women’s World Cup was also a tough day at the office for our WTC rookie, Lillie, who finished 12th, just 1 point off 11th (her round 1 result), and after qualifying with a clean but the slowest time, it meant she led the whole field onto the course, also not something easy to do, being the first to ride each section.

Lillie now flies home and will prepare for the final round in Spain in September, which will be followed by her Trials des Nations debut straight after.
