RESULTS – 2023 SA RELIABILITY CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 1 – MARRABEL BRINGS THE PHILLIP HAYDON TRIAL TO LIFE AGAIN for 2023

May 8, 2023 Filed Under: News, Reliability, State Championship

Last Saturday, May 6th saw the start horn sound on a new series of the South Australian Reliability Championships (SART) for 2023, with beautiful Marrabel welcoming the first round. Continuing the long-standing tradition of Gawler MCC opened the SART Championships with the Phillip Haydon Trial as Round 1.

Round 1 gave riders and spectators a taste of everything throughout a fantastic course, challenging competitors over 2 laps, with around 6 hours of racing in a day/night format. On top of spectators enjoying exceptional viewing vantage points, the delicious egg and bacon rolls, hot chips, sausages, burgers, sandwiches & cakes were exceptionally popular, even after a mercy dash to Kapunda couldn’t help keep the food on the tables long enough, before selling out. This combined with a bar stocked bar and cold drinks flowing, was a weekend enjoyed by the crowds of spectators.

With spectators crowding in to see all the action, they certainly didn’t leave disappointed after nail-biting tight racing and photo finishes into the night. Congratulations to Rowan Pumpa for taking out the A-class – Expert Solo – Unlimited by a mere 1-second gap in front of the race leader,  Jayden Rudd after he experienced issues on the last lap.

After an exceptional ride, the combo team of Shane Schiller / Brian Anthony put in a cracking effort being both the first sidecar across the line and putting down a time to be 13th outright – Well done guys!! Kudos to Max Hutchesson / Sam Hutchesson for being the only other sidecar duo to finish in the outright top 2o -Congratulations.

Provisional open solo and sidecar results are below, with details and results by class available on the SART website here. (Note competitors have until midnight on Sunday, May 14 to challenge or query any results.)

Round 2 of the 2023 SART Championship action continues on the 27th of May in Keyneton with The Mike Connors Reliability Trial presented by the Keyneton MCC. Put it in your calendar now and make sure you are there as the 2023 Championship story continues.

2023 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN OFF ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS – DATE CHANGES!

May 1, 2023 Filed Under: Enduro, Motocross, News, Reliability, SA Women in Motorcycling, SAORC, State Championship

Due to many reasons, and mainly due to Enduro not having a Sports Manager at present to coordinate the Championships or the discipline, with Wes Haydon no longer available to do it, as well as things like land availability, once again there have had to be date changes to the 2023 SA Off Road Championships, with the 2023 Championship now looking as per the rounds listed below.

Over the next week as it gets close to entries opening for rounds 1 and 2, MSA will release the 2023 Championship sponsors, as well as the supplementary regulations for the 2023 Championship.

Motorcycling South Australia would specifically like to thank the organising clubs for making the 2023 Championship possible, as all had originally decided to have a year off to recharge their members, but when it seriously looked like there wouldn’t be a Championship in 2023, all decided that they would put up their hands to make it happen.

The Keyneton MCC are now running back to back AORC rounds, after running a round in 2022, as the final 2 rounds of SAORC will also be rounds 7 & 8 of the 2023 AORC, and along with Keith & Districts, will also be opening up some new land to the Championship in 2023, while Juventus will be heading out of the forest for the first time in many years, to the Adelaide Hills and ACUSA Park.

DECLAN CARBERRY, SCRAPING ELBOWS AT MAC PARKS ROUND 3 OF THE 2022 SA ROAD RACE CHAMPS!

October 18, 2022 Filed Under: News, Road Racing, State Championship

The 2018 Motorcycling SA Rising Star is looking at adding the 2022 SA Supersport 600 Championship to his trophy cabinet as he gears up for the final round on November 12 & 13 at Mallala Motorsport park – but first, here are his thoughts about round 3 at Mac Park over the October Long Weekend!

Over the October Long Weekend, I competed in round 3 of the 2022 SA Road Race Championships, and the annual Master of Mac Park event.

Friday was practice.
The track was great, and I had lots of fun trying the Michelin tyres for the first time here. They felt amazing and over the four sessions I was getting quicker and quicker each time pushing through the pain of my foot (which I smashed at work the week before) doing the best that I possibly could with the way I was feeling.  The track temp was great and I got to put a couple good laps down.

Saturday was qualifying and race 1.
In first qualifying I was feeling good, bike was feeling great. I was in 2nd and feeling good out on track. I was going ok in the 2nd qualifying, but only managed to picked up a little time, so I was still in 2nd place – and that’s where I was going to start race 1 from – but a front row start is still good.

Race 1. I didn’t have the best start. On the second lap the rider in front of me crashed, I almost hit him but just managed to dodged him. Then the race was red flagged. On the restart I had a great start and had a great race.   Tyers felt so good though the whole race pushing them. I finished 2nd

Sunday, three more races and the feature race.
Race 2 I had a great start and was going well had no moments. I tried to ride smart and smooth as much as I could. The bike felt great everything went well finishing in 2nd. Race 3 I had an awesome start, had a great jump and went for it. I didn’t want anything to go wrong and didn’t want to hurt myself so rode to my capabilities which was still quick enough to finish in 2nd. Race 4 I had an alright start. I tried to just ride smooth and smart as I was hurting a little from putting so much pressure on my foot. I came away with 2nd for the weekend and gave me 80 points to help in the championship.

Master of Mac Park feature race

The Master of Mac Park saw me in with all the big boys on the 1000cc’s, and we had a couple of red flags so a-couple restarts. On our 3rd restart and 4 laps taken off we had a great 11 lap race. I started from 4th and finished in 4th.
I had a couple of the boys I know well in front of me on superbikes. They got away from me and all I wanted to do was finish the race where I started and not go backwards. I would have loved to make up a couple places but having 1000’s behind me and the pain in my foot I was proud of myself for doing as well as I did.  My quickest lap time in the feature race of a 1.10.2, and I can’t complain about and couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.

I love spending every minute on my bike, and thanks for your support
