Get along to Gillman Speedway this Saturday night for another exciting chapter in the history of this great venue, with the crowning of the SA Div 2 Sidecar Championship, as well as the Gillman Solo Championship.

With a warm night forecast, grab the family and get down there early to have a wander through the pits, and then head to a prime viewing area to see some of SA’s awesome junior talent on display from 6.00pm – and including 2021 SA Champion, Harry Sadler, along with fellow MSA Rising Star nominee, Ashley Jansen-Batchelor – and the next generation coming through like Kobi Channing and Riley Stout – you won’t regret getting there early to see these future stars!

Then head to the brilliant canteen for a feed before settling in for the main event(s) – and who to watch – well, here we go!

SA Div 2 Sidecar Champs; Previous results from this season means there could be up to 5 teams, and maybe more, who could come out on top – but whoever wins, it will mean that they will have had to have ridden a great meeting to do it – so look to Kym Menadue / Shane Dolan, Aaron Silvy / Jaron Silvy, Thomas Adams / Jaxon Rayner, Brian Silvy / Damian Egan and Mitchell Spear / Glen Zaworski to lead the way on the night. Going to be such a good night’s racing!

In the Gillman Solo Championship – you would think Internationals Liam May & Brayden McGuiness would lead the way, but with a heap of interstaters present, it should go down to a great final to end a close night’s racing!

And don’t forget also – Make Volunteering your 2022 Resolution – every Club will need a hand at some point during the year, so give just one day this year – cook a BBQ, serve in the canteen, help at sign on, pick up a flag point, help prep the track and the venue the day before – all it does at the end of the day, is benefit you and your kids!

2022 MOTOCROSS DATES – SO FAR – PRINT IT OFF AND PUT IT ON THE SHED FRIDGE DOOR!

January 10, 2022 Filed Under: Motocross, News, SA Women in Motorcycling, SAMX Championship

2022 MOTOCROSS DATES – SO FAR – PRINT IT OFF AND PUT IT ON THE SHED FRIDGE DOOR!

Huge thanks to all of the motocross clubs that were very pro-active in the lead up to the Christmas / New Year break in supplying us with their dates for 2022 – club and/or open dates!

As you can see below, there are already some 40 motocross events scheduled for 2022, with more to come – and happening now with Coaching Days and Come & Try Days coming up through January at MRA with their exciting new Rev Rookies Program (which is brilliant to see).

Any clubs that have not as yet scheduled their dates and forwarded them to MSA – feel free to send them in – projects@motorcyclingsa.org.au – and this calendar of dates will be updated and re-released – so the one on the fridge door can be replaced – and so everyone can keep up with, what is shaping up to be, a huge year of MX action in SA!

Get around it, start planning the year and support the clubs that are going above and beyond to give everyone a place to ride – and almost every weekend as well!

Says SA Motocross Sports Manager Clint Gow-Smith, “I am so excited for 2022 and the SAMX Community that we have coming together – and we will only get stronger together, so lets hit those tracks in 2022 and make it an unbelievably huge year for the sport in 2022 – GET KEEN & FIRE UP!

** For those who got in quick – the MRA Club Day scheduled for Sunday 27th Feb has been cancelled – the calendar has been changed to reflect this.

And don’t forget also – Make Volunteering your 2022 Resolution – every Club will need a hand at some point during the year, so give just one day this year – cook a BBQ, serve in the canteen, help at sign on, pick up a flag point, help prep the track the day before – all it does at the end of the day, is benefit you and your kids!

MAKE VOLUNTEERING YOUR 2022 RESOLUTION

MAKE VOLUNTEERING YOUR 2022 RESOLUTION

Definition of volunteering

‘Volunteering is time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain’

It is also what our clubs, our riders and our sport depend on to make the sport we all love happen!

Put simply, without the thousands of volunteers around South Australia that put the time in to making the sport happen – it wouldn’t happen!

So, for 2022, Motorcycling SA’s catch cry will be;

Make Volunteering your 2022 Resolution!

Help out just once in 2022 at your Club, or at an event, and make a huge difference to our sport.

It doesn’t take much, and those who will benefit include your family members – like YOUR children – and your friends – so really, you’re just helping out your mates!

Here’s just some of the things you can offer to help out with;

  • Serving in the canteen or cooking the BBQ
  • As a flag marshal or as a sweep rider
  • As a timekeeper or a lap scorer
  • Running a control or a check-point
  • As an observer
  • Or assisting at sign on and/or scrutineering

Or ask your Club what you can do to make our great sport better in 2022!

None of the positions listed above require you to have an accredited officials licence, and all you need to do is sign on the Volunteers Sign On Sheet and you are covered under MAIL insurance for your time.

Make Volunteering your 2022 Resolution!

What is volunteering?

Volunteering is time willingly given for the common good and without financial gain. This definition was developed by Volunteering Australia to cover a range of activities that Australians take part in. The definition was expanded upon in a series of explanatory notes.

According to Volunteering Australia:

“The term ‘volunteering’ covers a wide diversity of activities in Australian society. It includes formal volunteering that takes place within organisations (including institutions and agencies) in a structured way, and informal volunteering, acts that take place outside the context of a formal organisation.

While the vast majority of volunteering is undertaken by individuals, entities also donate employee time and this is included within this definition of volunteering.

Volunteering should not be exploitative or be used to replace paid employment. While volunteering provides substantial benefits to society, importantly it also provides significant benefits to the volunteers themselves. The personal benefits of volunteering need to be recognised and fostered.” (Volunteering Australia)
