KEEP YA FEET UP AT TUNGKILLO THIS SUNDAY WHILE MRA & MORGAN GO CLUB EVENTS!

August 14, 2020 Filed Under: Enduro, Motocross, News, SA Women in Motorcycling, SAORC, Trials

This weekend sees the Gawler MCC running its Keep Ya Feet Up Trial at Tungkillo on Sunday from 9.00am, while motocross clubs, MRA and Morgan are hosting their 2 Day Club round and a round of their Club Series on the Sunday respectively.

Spectators are welcome at all events, as long as the current social distancing restrictions of 1.5 metres apart and 2 square metres around are adhered to.

The Gawler event will showcase SA’s finest trials riders, including Australian representatives Connor Hogan and Lillie Yiatrou, and Australian Champions, Connor, Haydon Barwick, Harry Petersen, Hayden Eardley, Steve Rees/Melissa Rogers and Andrew Tarrant – and while there is no catering, it is free entry for spectators and an easy walk among the moss rocks at Tungkillo (signposted from Tungkillo and on the road to Palmer)

Down at Gillman, this will be the final chance for riders to cut some laps around the track before it hosts the final round of the SA Championships on August 29 & 30. The MRA Club have planned a cracking weekend of racing, with a different format each day – see the pic below – and will feature many of the outstanding motocross talent SA has to offer at the moment.

ENTRIES ARE STILL OPEN FOR THIS 2 DAY EVENT – GET AROUND IT TODAY AND MAKE IT EASY FOR THE ORGANISERS TO PLAN IF YOU ARE RIDING!

Entry for spectators is free and their canteen will be open as well – so get around this!

The same is happening at Morgan as well – with entries also still open, with Morgan being a great track for beginners, so if you are keen to try MX, get up to Morgan this Sunday!

Entry for spectators is free and their canteen will be open as well – so get around this as well!!

ALSO – A friendly reminder that entries for rounds 5 & 6 of the 2020 SA Off Road Championships, being held on new land at Karoonda, close this Sunday night at Midnight.

A HUGE WEEKEND OF ACTION ON OFFER AT MONARTO!

August 6, 2020 Filed Under: Enduro, Motocross, News, Reliability, SA Women in Motorcycling, SAMX Championship, SAORC, Trials

For those wondering what is on this weekend, head down the highway to Monarto!

This weekend will see round 2 of the 2020 South Australian Motocross Championship at Monarto, and being run by the South Coast MX Club.

Over 200 entries have been received for this weekend, with great numbers in all classes, with over half of the entries received being junior entries, and with great numbers also in Senior and Junior Women. Juniors will race Saturday, with senior action on the Sunday, which also includes the older juniors also racing on Sunday.

And from the South Coast Club;

Spectator entry is free, practice starts at 8.00am with racing starting at 9.00am both days.

Camping is available with showers, (with a donation to the club) and there will be full canteen and bar facilities all weekend.

As a bonus, they are also putting on a Saturday Night Dinner – Spaghetti Bolognese, garlic bread and a can of softy $10.00 between 6.00 & 7.00pm, so go and join them around the campfire, and their bar will also be open!!

Also – as a friendly reminder – entries for the following events are still open and close soon;

The Hardi 2020 24 Hour Trial – entries close this coming Tuesday, the 11th of August – with this quick update from the 24 Hour Trial Chairman, Shane Diener;

What a year motorcycling and the 24 Hour has experienced so far! It was exciting to have secured Hardi as the major sponsor for 2020, bringing new ideas to the event. Additionally, we have secured several new sponsors to the event and attracted some previous sponsors back.

The committee have worked extremely well together and maintained positive progress during Covid restrictions, to ensure that the first weekend of September will be an amazing event. We’ve managed to secure 7 new sections for 2020, we will be able to ride another new section that was bypassed due to the wet conditions in 2016 and most importantly an old favourite returns after a long hiatus.

Light Council have been accommodating as we have ridden the waves of Covid restrictions, MSA have been supportive in providing the best opportunity to make the event work.

Come out on September 5 and 6 to support the 2020 Hardi 24 Hour Trial, support your friends, fellow competitors, remembering to adhere to Covid guidelines throughout the weekend. Make this an event to remember and provide some positives in this ever changing and testing year. Most importantly stay safe and have fun.

Rounds 5 & 6 of the 2020 SA Off Road Championship at Karoonda – entries close on Sunday, the 16th of August

The Keep Ya Feet Up Trial – entries close for this trial, on Thursday, the 13th of August, being run by the Gawler MCC at Tungkillo on Sunday, the 16th of August.

COMPETITION – IT’S SLOWLY GETTING BACK UP TO SPEED!

July 16, 2020 Filed Under: Enduro, Motocross, News, Reliability, Road Racing, SA Women in Motorcycling, SAMX Championship, SAORC, State Championship, Trials

COMPETITION – IT’S SLOWLY GETTING BACK UP TO SPEED!

In the past couple of weeks, competition has slowly started to get back into gear – and over the next couple of weekends it starts to heat up even more!

It all kicked off with a round of the Tri-Series Enduro on July 5th near Brownlow, with 93 total entries braving the extremely dry conditions (it is winter, right?) at the Keyneton MCC event, with the general chat being, we don’t care if it’s dry, we are just glad to be back racing!

Young gun, Nathan Howe, showed the senior field how to ride in the dust, with a 6 minute win over the returning Nick Throup after 2 ½ hours of chewing dust!

A week later, the Keyneton MCC went back to back when they kicked off the 2020 Trials SA season with their Keyneton 2 Day Trial, run as the 47th Mountain Man Trial on Saturday and the Rockhopping SA 2020 SA Women’s Cup & Diener/Holmes Sidecar Trophy on the Sunday, with 41 total entries received – a bit down, but the Women’s Cup did miss its annual influx of riders from the east due to border restrictions!

Big winners there were Lillie Yiatrou in the SA Women’s Cup and Chris Schultz & Stuart Gerhardy in the Diener/Holmes.

This weekend it heats up even more – with rounds 1 & 2 of the 2020 South Australian Off Road Championship to take place around the township of Clare, with the senior Championship being supported by WSB Distributors and the junior Championship supported by Husqvarna and KTM.

To be held on property owned by the Mitchell family (with thanks) at Farrell Flat, the Clare MCC will run Saturday as a Cross Country, while Sunday will run as a Sprint for the 175 strong field

In the 175 entries, 67 are junior riders, spread over 5 classes for riders aged 8 years to 16 years, with some of South Australia’s brightest future stars to be in action – seriously worth the trip to Clare just to watch them.

In the seniors, defending SA#1, Riley Graham will have a gaggle of Youth (under 21) riders chasing him and his #1 plate, including the likes of Nathan Howe, Jayden Rudd, Charlie Milton, Jordan Simpson, Jaxon Raynor, Jay Simister and Max Price, along with the ‘old stagers’ like Sean & Nick Throup and Olly Simpson – so it’s a safe bet that the action on the track will be hot to trot!

Kick off both days from 8.00am, with catering also available each day, and free entry for spectators!

Over in the Wild Wild West this weekend (Sunday) will also be a round of the EP Series for Motocross, this time at the Kimba Motocross Track. Canteen available and camping allowed at the track.

It has been a while since there has been racing at Kimba and they are looking forward to having a good roll up of the motocross crew at Kimba – entries are still open through Ridernet!

While talking motocross, the Morgan MCC kick back into gear this weekend (Sunday) with their first Club round for the year – juniors, seniors, canteen and free entry for spectators!

AND – IT ONLY GETS HOTTER THE WEEK AFTER TO END JULY!

The final weekend of July 2020 is shaping up to be just as busy as this weekend will be, with the action to be just as hot!

Kicking off on Saturday 25th will be one of only three reliability trials for 2020 – the Keyneton MCC’s 60th Annual Road Trial, starting from the Keyneton Park (oval) at 9.00am. First run in 1961, the event is now known as the Mike Connors Reliability Trial, with an entry list for 2020 already nudging 150 starters!

Free entry for spectators and fully catered ALL DAY at Keyneton Oval by the Keyneton Progress Association, this will, arguably, be one of the events of the year – and the KMCC’s 3rd event in 4 weeks!

Also on the weekend of July 25 & 26 will be the opening round of the three round 2020 South Australian Motocross Championships, to be run by the Riverland JMC at their Renmark track.

Juniors on Saturday and Seniors on Sunday, with entries still open until Tuesday July 21st for the Championship opener for MX – enter through your Ridernet profile – and with only three rounds, as a rider, you won’t want to miss a round.

TROY Series SA 2020 round 2 (for Trial) will also run, on Sunday 26th, at Tungkillo with the Gawler MCC’s Max Graetz Trial, kicking off from 9.00am – with entries open until Thursday 23rd of July – through your Ridernet profile.

Riders aged 4 to +74 will be in action, including Australian representatives, Connor Hogan and Lillie Yiatrou, with free entry for spectators.

Also on next weekend will be a couple of ride days on Sunday for those not looking to race, but still want to throw a leg over.

Mac Park at Mount Gambier will host a track day for road racing, hosted by the Mt Gambier MCC, while ACUSA Park in the Adelaide Hills will have their 2nd Ride Day for 2020 from 10.00am.

Info for all of these events, and more, are available on the MSA website – check out the calendar and supp regs pages, as well as the ACUSA Park page as well!

All who attend these events are reminded that SOCIAL DISTANCING still applies – now 1 metre apart and 2 square metres around – so no grouping together – and remember to especially keep that bike length apart when is ques for food and drinks at events!

MA’S LICENCE REACTIVATION TIMELINE & OPEN EVENT ENTRIES REACTIVATED!

June 15, 2020 Filed Under: Enduro, Motocross, News, Reliability, SAMX Championship, State Championship, Trials

MA’S LICENCE REACTIVATION TIMELINE

Dear Members,

With the May 24 announcement of Sport Australia’s Return to Sport Toolkit, Motorcycling Australia (MA) have outlined the following timeline for the reactivation of licence sales and a return to competitive activity.

  • June 15, 2020 – License sales will be reactivated to renew or apply for your license;
  • July 1, 2020 – Competition activity may resume on a state by state basis in compliance with state and national guidelines and regulations.

Considering the pandemic and the impact that it has had on the restriction of sporting activities, MA in consultation with the State Controlling Bodies (SCBs) is pleased to confirm an extension of active annual licenses for members affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. All annual licenses purchased in the period between April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020 will automatically receive a 3 month extension.

MA has considered numerous options to support annual license holders and believes this is the fairest outcome. Extensions for eligible licenses will added automatically prior to the reactivation of license sales on June 15.

We recommend members download the MA license app which will update with your license extension automatically.

AN ‘OFF ROAD’ UPDATE & COMING OUT OF COVID!

May 13, 2020 Filed Under: Enduro, News, Reliability, SAORC

There is now some light at the end of the tunnel as far as getting back to competition is concerned, with enduro and reliability trials being able to lock in a number of dates for 2020!

All being well with the continued lifting of COVID-19 restrictions the 2020 SA Off Road Championship will be as follows – and running their 7 round series as originally planned!;

Round 1 & 2        July 18 & 19

Round 3 & 4        August 1 & 2       and in conjunction with the AORC

Round 5 & 6        August 22 & 23

Round 7               September 13

Unfortunately it has also just been announced that the Hattah Desert Race has been cancelled for 2020, BUT with Tri-Series dates still to be allocated within the condensed calendar, there will still be more events to ride in 2020!

The SAORC Committee would also like to thank the Series sponsors, WSB Distributors and KTM & Husqvarna for their continued support in these difficult times!

On the reliability trial side of the sport, of the 7 planned rounds, it looks like three events will be able to run in 2020, including the 24 Hour Trial, but on a new date in September, and the 60th Keyneton MCC Trial, the Mike Connors Trial, with the full calendar looking to be;

July 25th                             The Mike Connors Trial (& the 60th Keyneton MCC annual road trial)

August 8th                          The Gil Harris Trial, run by the Levis MCC

September 5th & 6th         The 2020 ‘Hardi’ 24 Hour Trial, from the Kapunda Trotting Complex

SART Championship

Here is the press release from the 24 Hour Trial Organising Committee;

Throughout the past 4 weeks, the committee has been in consultation with MSA regarding the 2020 HARDI 24 Hour Trial. It was agreed that due to the current, constantly changing and ongoing restrictions, that the original date of 11-12 July 2020 would be a struggle to meet.

After working tirelessly with our key stakeholders, we have booked the 2020 HARDI 24 Hour Trial to be held on 5th and 6th of September. There are still several factors which need to be cleared before the event can be confirmed. The most pressing of course being Government restrictions and approval from the Local Council. You will be updated as the situation progresses.

What does this mean for competitors?
• MA licenses were held on the 1st of April for the duration of time that MSA are not issuing permits for events and will be frozen until MSA events resume, subsequently extending your expiry date
• Entries and sup regs will be open and available once a permit is issued from the Local Council. A media release will be sent via Facebook and published on the website
• 1 event competition licenses will be available and valid for use in the 2020 HARDI 24 Hour Trial
• Entries will be refundable through Ridernet ONLY if tougher Government restrictions are enforced, causing the event to be cancelled.
• Interstate competitors eligibility will be determined following Government restrictions
• Presentation night is booked for Saturday 7th November at Vine Inn Barossa, Nuriootpa
• The event will return to the traditional date in July 2021

We appreciate your patience and ongoing support whilst we try to rearrange the event however most importantly, we would like to thank MSA and our sponsors;
HARDI Australia
Paradise Mazda
Gawler Motorcycle Centre
Schutz Industries
Southern Steel Supplies
Barossa Motorcycles
Sherwood Earthmoving
Vine Inn Barossa
Performance Trade Services
GS Moto
Schwartz Excavations

As we navigate our way towards September, we will be as informative as we can be and hope to give all our fathers competing, a wonderful Father’s Day.

And stay tuned for more updates – from motocross and trial in the next week!
