LOOKS LIKE TRIALS WEATHER FOR THE CLASSIC TRIAL AT TUNGKILLO THIS WEEKEND!

With the Hattah Desert Race a happening thing this weekend, plus being only a week before the 2021 Hardi 24 Hour Trial, events are a little on the quiet side with the AJS MTC’s Scarpantoni Wines Classic Trial at Tungkillo headlining the weekend.

AJS MTC SCARPANTONI WINES CLASSIC TRIAL TRIAL

This is the chance for riders to drag their old ‘trials irons’ out of the shed for their yearly carby cleanout, and it also gives the chance for some of the younger riders the chance to get on an old bike and realise how good they have it on a modern machine!

A large entry has been received – including a number of newbies, and as young as 6 years of age in the Mini Trial Class, and there will also be Australian Champions and representatives in action. Riding starts at 9.00am and will finish at around 4.00pm, with the event signposted from Tungkillo, and is on Brinkworth Road, Tungkillo.

Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the action up close – entry is free for spectators.

MUD N TARS MCC CLUB SERIES DIRT TRACK

The other awesome event on this weekend is the first round of the Mud N Tars Dirt Track Series at Day Road, Victor Harbor. This is not only the first chance to ride Dirt Track for 2021, it is also the first chance to ride the track that is going to host the 2021 SA Dirt Track Championships later this year!

So, for everyone who has been hanging out to let it all hang out and get sideways on a dirt track – here is your chance – head to Victor this weekend to ride an awesome track – complete with awesome country hospitality!

9 EVENTS THIS WEEKEND – YEP, NINE, COUNT THEM! – HEADLINED BY THE EP SERIES FINALE AT KIMBA!

A bit spoiled for choice this weekend, with 9 events on, across 4-5 disciplines this weekend, headlined by the Finale’ of the 2021 EP Series at Kimba, but also with events in the Riverland, the metro area, the Murraylands and down the South East, seeing much of the state covered!

But, all eyes (or most anyway) will be on Kimba this weekend as they host the final of the EP Series for MX on Sunday. The EP (Eyre Peninsula) Series, now well over 10 years running, is a great compliment to the SA Championship series, and gives riders from the ‘Wild, Wild West’, a series to develop their skills without needing to drive 100’s of K’s each weekend to get quality competition – and a huge well done to all of the clubs, Whyalla, West Coast, Port Lincoln and Kimba!

AND; A GREAT OFFER TO THOSE HEADING TO KIMBA! To everyone who is heading to the final round of the 2021 EP Series at Kimba – THIS WEEKEND – here is a message from Vicki at the Kimba Gateway Hotel regarding meals!

DANNY REILLY MEMORIAL FEATURE RACES RETURN THIS WEEKEND

The Tea Tree Gully MX VMX day features a special end of day events in memory of Danny Reilly. (From Nev Mitchell) Danny was a MX racer that myself and my mates all knew from our days living in Windsor Gardens, we all admired him. So having said that I hope we see plenty of entries. Below is a pic of some of the trophies for this weekend’s racing at TTG:

Remember the Vintage Class is up to & including Evolution bikes (so that’s Pre70, Pre75, Pre78, Evo), so if you bike is air cooled, non-linkage & drum brakes, then you’re in!!!

The junior class is for 125cc 2 stroke/250cc 4 stroke 13 – under 16 years of age as per the supp regs.

FYI, the bottle of red is not included but only there as a size reference of the trophies for you all to salivate over.

So who will get their name on the inaugural Danny Reilly Memorial Vintage MX shield (not pictured – it’s a surprise!)???

THE 48TH MOUNTAIN MAN TRIAL WAS ONE FOR THE AGES!

The Keyneton MCC ran their Mountain Man Trial for the 48th time yesterday (Sunday 20th June) at Vine Vale in the Barossa, which was also round 2 of TROY Series SA 2021 (Trials SA’s Trials Rider Of the Year series), and it was run under blue skies after pre-event rain made for prime conditions at the venue.

Organised and run by the team of Sofie Kraft and Haydon Ahrens, with great support from Dee & Brad Hunter, the event saw a trial in SA hit the 50 entry mark for the first time in 2 years, and with the field made up of 18 juniors, as well as a total of 8 rookies and 3 brand newbies, it’s great for the future of the discipline here in SA to see numbers once again on the rise, with a total of 74 riders and passengers having so far started an event in 2021 (just need them to all ride the same event now!)!

Also great to see many spectators having a quiet wander amongst the sections and gum trees, as they took advantage of the great catering from the Masters of Wine & Just Us Girls (JUGS) Mighty River Run teams, with all proceeds on the day going to Novita!

HEAD WEST YOUNG RIDERS, HEAD WEST!

ROUND 3, EAGLE TRAILERS, CAMPERS & CARAVANS SOUTH AUSTRALIAN MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS HEADS ANOTHER BUSY WEEKEND!

Round 3 of the Eagle Trailers, Campers & Caravans 2021 South Australian Motocross Championships, along with round 2 of TROY Series SA 2021 for Trial headline this coming weekend, with the SAMX Championships heading to the ‘Wild West’ of Ceduna, hosted by the West Coast MCC and TROY being run in the Barossa at Vine Vale, with the 48^th running of the Keyneton MCC’s Mountain Man Trial.

Here is the rundown on this weekend’s action – events, ride days and all what’s happening!

EAGLE TRAILERS, CAMPERS & CARAVANS 2021 SA MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS, presented by AMX SUPERSTORES;

The trip west means round 3 of 5 of the 2021 Championship, which is also presented by AMX Superstores, so this also means the season is half way to crowning the 2021 South Australian Champions.

With the hot action that has been seen at rounds 1 & 2, those who are travelling and fully supporting the 2021 Championship are putting themselves in a strong position for a great 2021 result, as if the first 2 rounds have proven anything, it’s that you definitely need to be in it to win it!

So, a huge thanks to all who are supporting, not only the Championship, but also SA’s most remote country Club and their members – it’s your support that will continue to see the Championship, and motocross, thrive into the future here in SA, so let’s continue to grow support behind these clubs and the Championship.

And the action will be hot on the track, as has been stated, this is the half way point of the Championship, so those who have been locked in a battle for points will be all out this weekend to try and get a gap as they head to Keith for round 4, and with ALL classes still very much up for grabs, there won’t be a single race without handle bars being banged!

The sea views from the Ceduna track will definitely be taking a back seat when the gates drop!

And from the West Coast Club, who are going all out to make every visitor feel welcome!

“We have convinced Jon to put on another roast night on the Saturday night 19th June of our State Championship round (hopefully the weather is kinder this year). So we would love for you to join us in the shed around the fire for a yarn, a coldy and have an awesome feed for $10.00 per plate.

For catering purposes – please let us know and we’ll make sure you don’t miss out!

AND: as well as Erikah doing face painting from 11.00am-1.00pm Saturday, we will have Mel at the track selling showbags for her great cause, and below is a little bit about Mel’s cause

“Selling showbags as part of my fundraising as I’m shaving all my hair off to a number 1 or 2 and donating hair for wigs for sick kids and adults. Fundraising monies will be equally split between RFDS, MS Foundation, Ceduna Hospital Auxiliary and Children’s Cancer Institute. Thanks for your support Mel!””

TROY Series SA 2021 round 2, THE 48^TH MOUNTAIN MAN TRIAL

TROY Series SA 2021 kicks back into gear on Sunday with the 48^th running of the Keyneton MCC’s Mountain Man Trial at Vine Vale in the Barossa Valley, just off the Angaston-Tanunda road, action kicks off around 9.30am and entry for spectators is FREE!

50 riders from as young as 6 years of age, right through to veterans in their 60’s will be in action, including Australian representatives and Australian Champions like Connor Hogan, Hayden Eardley and Haydon Barwick, and 2019, and reigning, MSA Rising Star, Lillie Yiatrou!

As well as a full day’s action the Keyneton MCC will have catering this coming Sunday, with a massive thanks to the ‘Masters of Wine’ and ‘Just Us Girls’ (JUGS) Mighty River Run teams! They are raising money for Novita, so get around them and their great cause, with Bacon & Egg sangas for breaky and burgers for lunch – among heaps more!

A great day for the whole family to wander among the gum trees and get up and close to some fantastic trials action, and supporting a great cause!

THE JUNE LONG WEEKEND – MEANS A TRIP TO ’ROBBIE’ FOR A MUTTON & GRAVY ROLL – AND THE LEW JOB 2 DAY RELIABILITY TRIAL!

This June Long Weekend, Saturday & Sunday, the 12^th & 13^th, sees round 3 of the 2021 South Australian Reliability Trials Championships, the Velocette MCC’s Lew Job Reliability Trial – the Robbie 2-Day – being run, and as always, starting from the Robertstown Oval at Robertstown in the state’s mid north!

Just over 95 riders will tackle some of SA Reliability Trials most iconic sections this weekend, with Springhut Creek once again likely to be the highlight for most riders, and especially after missing the event in 2019, which had to be cancelled due to COVID-19! Leading the field out onto the course will be the sidecars, with the team of Hector Evans & Shaun Buckley first bike away!

The first bike will start at 1.01pm on Saturday and 9.01am on Sunday, with riders doing 2 laps each day of a course that should take them about 2 hours & 20 minutes!

To catch all the action – head to the Robertstown Oval and grab an egg & bacon sanga, a coffee and a programme, which will tell you all you need to know in regards to who is riding and where the best spots to catch the action are (spectator paddocks) – and then head back to the Oval to welcome home the riders at the end of their journey each day – and grab a lamb roll from the awesome catering the Robertstown community will have on site!
