CONNOR HOGAN CROWNED SA #1 AT THE TRIALSPORT & GLOBAL RACING OIL 2019 SA TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

CONNOR HOGAN CROWNED SA #1 AT THE 2019 SA TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Mungeree and ‘The Woolshed Trial’ turned on its best conditions for the Trialsport & Global Racing Oil 2019 SA Trial Championships over the weekend of August 17 & 18, with SA International & Australia #2, Connor Hogan, showing the way with a masterful display over the 2 days.

Along with the brilliant venue, the great food and the trials community of SA coming together in the Mungeree camping paddock, perhaps the best thing to come out of the weekend was the brilliant riding of SA’s young talent, along with WA’s Ben Walling, 11 years of age and showing the Trial 4 (C Grade) Class a clean set of heals!

Led by Connor (18) and Lillie Yiatrou (15) in Open Women, who are both also riding in the World Trial Championship and will represent Australia at the Trials des Nations in September, the future of Trial in SA looks as strong as it has ever been, with Haydon Ahrens & Alex Cowan (Trial 2), Lillie (also Trial 3), Ben and Dan Fraser (Trial 5) leading the teenage rampage!

With the exception of Historic White, all of the senior classes had at least one rider on the podium under the age of 20, with the Open Women’s Class made up entirely of teenage riders, and with 2 of them still able to compete in junior competition as well!

And those still riding in the junior classes look just as promising for the future, with Jackson Poker, in his 2nd ever trial claiming a fantastic win in Junior A, with Australian #2 Charlotte Cowan winning Junior A Women, and also in fine style!

In Junior B Women, Hayley Stephen reversed the 2018 result to this time lead home Ashley Barwick, with Lucy Cowan in 3rd, while Harry Peterson led home Isaac Schultz & Oliver Lancaster in Junior B.

The sidecar field had a tough weekend on the Mungeree hills, logs and rocks, with Steve Rees & Melissa Rogers getting the A Grade win, with Andrew Earl & Christopher Paunola scoring a tough win in B Grade.

A huge congratulations must go to Team Hogan (whose home is Mungeree) and the AJS MTC for running a brilliant SA Championship event, with thanks to be made to all of the observers that stood out in the elements all weekend scoring the riders – the ‘world’s greatest observing team’ they certainly were – as well as the (Team Tyler) chief cooks and bottle washers – who kept everyone fed all weekend – and the officials and scorers for a job well done!

24 HOURS (PLUS A FEW) TO GET YOUR ENTRIES IN AS THE SA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FINALE’ HEADS TO MURRAY BRIDGE

South Coast Motocross club will be the hosting the 4th and final round of the Eagle Trailers & Campers SA State Championships on the 24th and 25th of August 2019. This event attracts approximately 220+ competitors and their families into Murray Bridge and surrounding towns, utilising the accommodation, services and facilities.

Remember if you enter through RIDERNET before the Tuesday August 20th, at midnight EST, you’ll get your name and sponsors into the final round of this year’s 2019 SA State Championships Program. Late entries close on August 21st with a $50 late fee and you’ll miss the program.

This event attracts riders from as far and wide as Ceduna to MT Gambier, with interstate riders from Victoria, and international competitors from Indonesia. With rider abilities spread from little demo’s starting at 4yrs to the MX Nationals Pros and the 35+ Veterans.

The South Coast Committee have gone all out to make everyone’s stay enjoyable and to ensure that the track has a family friendly environment. With the committee putting a bonfire and dinner on Saturday night, of Baked Potatoes with your choice of toppings and a can of drink for $10.

With the help of Wayne McMillan and the very generous machinery donation from Loadex Hire SA, the South Coast Committee have been able to complete some track modifications and there are definitely some surprises in store for those who have entered.

Below is the final message from the Club before the weekend.

With our club holding a successful double header for the 2019 MX Nationals, our committee is excited to welcome back the South Australian MX Championship for the 5th consecutive year.

Final Instructions and Rider list will be available on Thursday for competitors and family to find out who they will battling against at the 4th and final round. A huge thank you to every committee member and their children, volunteers and sponsors who are the reason for why we are able to hold this prestige event in South Australia.

We hope you enjoy the event and don’t forget to let us know if you would like to place an order for the Saturday night’s Baked Potato

TRIALSPORT & GLOBAL RACING OIL 2019 SA TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS; THIS WEEKEND IN THE SOUTHERN FLINDERS!

TRIALSPORT & GLOBAL RACING OIL 2019 SA TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS; THIS WEEKEND IN THE SOUTHERN FLINDERS

With the Trialsport & Global Racing Oil 2019 SA Trial Championships now just under 24 hours away, The AJS MTC & Team Hogan have set 2 great loops of sections – and as is the Mungeree way, logs will be on the menu, along with creeks, hills and rocks – all the goodies needed for a brilliant event!

Mungeree is located at Bangor, right at the end of the Bridle Track, just off the Port Germain Road – ‘Mungeree’, 1173 Bridle Track, Bangor GPS – S32.940246, E138.133185 – and yes, it is well worth the drive!

Viewing will be prime for all spectators, with Saturday a relatively short loop around the homestead, and includes the creek (which may even be flowing) and around to the ‘Widow-maker’ part of Mungeree, while Sunday will head to the ‘Scrub’ paddock, which not only has awesome riding, but also has awesome views of the top of the gulf towards Port Augusta!

As always, Trials South Oz are offering a full range of classes, which means there will be riders from 6 years of age right through to 60+, with classes for modern and classic bikes, seniors & juniors and sidecars.

Team Australia members, Lillie Yiatrou (Aust #3) and Connor Hogan (Aust #2) will be in action, along with current and former Australian Champions, Alisha Harry, Hayden Eardley, Haydon Ahrens, Haydon Barwick and the sidecar team of Steve Rees & Melissa Rogers, as will all of Team SA who are gearing up for their assault on the Australian Championships in Tasmania later in the year!

Action kicks off at 10.00am Saturday and 9.00am Sunday, with the event fully catered by the amazing Tyler Hogan and helpers – country tucker at its very best – with free entry to the event for spectators & programmes so you know who is who.

There is also a raffle on over the weekend with some great prizes on offer, with all monies raised going to the Team Australia Trials des Nations fund for their trip to Ibiza in Spain in September – AND – on Saturday morning at Riders Briefing, the 2019 Team SA State Teams to the Australian Championships will be named and presented!

ALSO ON THIS WEEKEND!

CRYSTAL BROOK’S ‘HUNTS FUEL’ RACE WEEKEND

(ALSO A ROUND OF THE SA VMX SERIES)

Crystal Brook MCC are hosting a round of the SA VMX Series this Sunday at their brilliant venue at Crystal Brook, which is also their ‘Hunts Fuel’ Race Weekend, complete with a Demo class for 7 years and under stars of the future!

Crystal Brook is one of the premier motocross tracks in SA, with prime viewing for spectators who get to relax on the lawns in front of the clubrooms as they look down across the track and see all of the action as it unfolds.

And like the SA Trial Championships, entry to the venue is free for spectators and their canteen will be open and fully stocked.

So, a weekend in the Southern Flinders awaits – Trials at Mungeree both days, or modern & vintage motocross at Crystal Brook on Sunday – or do both – chuck the swag in the car and head to Mungeree and enjoy a great day of trials action on Saturday, then cruise down to Crystal Brook on Sunday morning for a day’s MX action – weekend sorted!

AND STILL MORE ACTION TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND!

ROUND 2, SCOTT WARE MEMORIAL TRI-SERIES

Also on this weekend is round 2 of the Scott Ware Memorial Tri-Series, a 3 round series co-run by the Gawler, Keyneton & Clare MCCs, with round 2 being hosted by the Keyneton MCC at Eden Valley on Sunday.

Like the events above, entry for spectators is free, with the property being used a prime property for off road racing, with viewing also fantastic as you wander among the moss rocks & gum trees.

The Keyneton MCC have organised for catering to be provided by the Barossa Valley Machinery Preservation Society, with coffee supplied by Barossa Bean Bar.

Get around it if the Flinders isn’t your thing – 85 of SA’s finest off road riders, from 7 years of age and up will fire up and keep you on the edge of your ‘deckie’ all day!

AND ALSO ON SUNDAY;

Riverland JMC have round 2 of their 2019 Club Series on at their Renmark venue, with their canteen open all day.

Morgan MCC have round 6 of their 2019 Club Series on at their Morgan venue on Burra Road, again, with their canteen open all day.

SIDEWINDERS RELEASE THEIR 2019/20 CALENDAR OF EVENTS!

The Sidewinders Under 16 Speedway Club have released their 2019 / 20 calendar of events for the upcoming season, and once again it looks to be an action packed summer of slides at their North Terrace, Wingfield venue.

As always, the crew at Sidewinders will be catering for riders of all ages, from 4 years to under 16 years, and boys – and most definitely girls – of all abilities.

So, if a summer of watching the kids go sideways while watching some ripper sunsets is your idea of a great Saturday (and one Friday) night out, then contact the Club, either through the Motorcycling SA website (on the Club Directory page), or through their social media outlets (Facebook) to get all the information.

With thanks to Joylene Lee Archer and the other photographers for their brilliant work!

THE KESSNER RACE TEAM – DEVELOPING SA’S RISING OFF ROAD STARS!

THE KESSNER RACE TEAM – DEVELOPING SA’S RISING OFF ROAD STARS!

With the final SAORC rounds coming up at the end of August, Kessner Race Team will finish off the season with its third Junior Rider invited under the team tent.

Seeing a hole in junior development for the Off road discipline, team owner, Roger Kessner and team manager, Scott Billing put together a program to help young junior riders and their families gain valuable experience by being part of the Kessner team for a weekend.

Two riders have already participated in the program, gaining an enormous amount of knowledge and bike advice plus support that will hopefully help them continue to chase their dreams and goals.

Clay Burnett blended in well at rounds 4 & 5, lapping up as much as he could and applying it so well that he won his class on Saturday and placed 2nd on the Sunday.

The program has been embraced by the whole team with the junior riders being taken under the wings of the senior lads as they bring them into the close nit family vibe which is a signature mark of the Kessner Team.

They are also given access to all products and equipment as well as having head suspension guru Grant Beale (Bike Tune) on hand all weekend. Grant takes a very hands on approach and is valuable in getting the best out of each rider’s bike relevant to the track conditions for that day. This has been a high point for the previous two riders as well as the mentoring and fun had along the way.

Of course, all of this could not be possible without the valued relationship the team has with its sponsors. The team are proud that the following parties have put their confidence in them, and have provided their ongoing support as sponsors throughout the year.
